I bought a Red WD 4tb hard disk yesterday from a big shop in Sim Lim Square.
When I go back home and register using the serial number, the warranty show that the warranty started one week ago.
When I bought that time the hard disk is inside unopened anti static plastic bag.
The hard disk I bought is 2nd hand ? :s11:

Warranty based on serial number begins when it leaves the factory, usually they give couple months extra grace for it to be shipped and sold. So in this case, you just bought one week after the grace period. If you have a receipt, it will start from receipt not to worry.

Normally the factory warranty will have a few months extra of warranty. I suppose in your case, the HDD stayed at the shop for more than a few months, eating into the actual warranty.

Nevertheless, u can scan in your receipt when u register the warranty for your HDD at the WD website so that the warranty will start from the date of your purchase.
