I have a old DIY desktop which is really old. I am not quite sure what to do with them. As I read some of the website online. They mentioned some of the following options:

1. Build a Low-Powered, Single-Purpose Computer
I am already in the midst of building a disk server with another of my desktop. Hence I don't see a point of building another one.

2. Repurpose the Parts On Their Own
I know that I can take out the CD/DVD drive & 3.5" Floppy Disk, and put them into the disk server, but I pretty much do not know what I can do with the rest of the hardware such as the chipset, the RAM and the motherboard.

3. Dedicate it to 'Distributed Computing'
Where can I dedicate it?

4. Recycle Them
I want to do so, but I am not sure where can I recycle them. I don't think the recycle bin at the bottom of my block can serve that purpose.

The specification of the hardware are as of follows:

CPU: AMD Athlon(TM) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+
Revision: G2
CD/DVD:Atapi SM-TSSTcorp CD DVDW SH-S2
3.5" Floppy Disk
Motherboard: Biostar TA780G M2+ Ver. 6.x
Memory: 4GB

1) Buy a new M-ATX Casing and use it as HPTC for playing movies on your TV
2) Sell it for $50 self collect at your place

my old PC parts all dumped into a large Toyogo box and left to rot. Only when the need arises then I go and dig through the box.

Think the best use for them is to clean them nice nice, then go Ikea and buy a frame and frame them and display in a cabinet.

One fine day I got time I will go screw open my old HDDs expose the platters and display them on the wall

I think so too. What do you mean by an HPTC. Google is and it mentions about High Performance Technical Computing (HPTC).

I too want to sell it. But I guessed it will sell it for something less than $50.

i actually kept it purely as a momento of my very first Pc haha

Do u know where is a good place to gauge interest and approx value for this ? thanks :)

You may be surprise how much that is worth now. I think older parts have more precious metal on it. Unfortunately, the worth is not for you and I to extract. =:p
