A bunch of slower RAM modules is cheaper than a pair of fast modules nowadays

It will hurt CPU performance, but GPU doesn't care the higher latency

I think it needs a balance. If the CPU can't keep up, then it will also bottleneck the performance of the iGPU. In this case, if one decides to upgrade to a dedicated GPU, the CPU is still going to be the bottleneck.
