Actually i heard from my colleague who's working in AMD that there are a lot of indians working there too.

But ultimately the credit goes to Dr Lisa Su for setting the right direction during the brink of bankruptcy.

I think AMD is just doing their own things and hopefully Intel take the hit. Looking back, it is quite obvious Intel is very complacent during 2015-2017. 2017, Spectre and Meltdown reported, they try to wiggle out by 'bribes' and lawsuit when it blow up in 2018. You got to give it to Intel for hardballing the market for the past 2 years in midst of all these nonsense. Their business process to run per normal even when the company is fos is impressive. It takes something to tell brands like Dell that they have cpu shortage and will not give them anything for three months, and these brands accept.

For many years, AMD is just being resource lean... The console market keep them floating for the past decade. Amd business deal with Microsoft is gold.

7nm and RDNA2 basically secured the majority of the console market for AMD since their tech is being used for both upcoming xbox and PS models. There is even talk that Nintendo's next console will be using AMD as well.

The deal started back in xbox360 days.

The current era ps4/xbone and upcoming next gen console are build upon that initial contract.

Nintendo, not so much. Their wii u is based on AMD but sales isn't good.

What did AMD do?

The first thing amd did is to go fabbless. They spin off their fabrication chip bussiness. This allow amd to save a lot of money and put all their resources into designing chips. This was long before the current ceo came in. She just ripping the benitifs of that decision.

Amd hired the best chip designers money can buy. Ryzen was created by them.

Intel keep using the same chips architecture for over 1 decades.

Intel have trouble with 10nm for over 5 years. AMD jump pass intel with 7nm while intel is still on 14nm.
