Interesting question... and there's probably room for a bit of a discussion of how the camera market has changed in the last few years.

My go-to is a Canon 5D Mark 3; when I'm travelling I usually bring the camera, a 28-70 f/2.8, and a 50mm f/1.4. It takes some pretty awesome photos, if I do say so myself.

(The best accessory I ever bought for it, incidentally, was a hand-strap to replace the neck-strap. It makes it ridiculously easy to wield, and it was only about $50 - can't recommend this enough.)

I used to bring a little Canon pocket-camera as well, when I didn't want to schlep the DSLR around - but I ditched that a long time ago, because the camera in your average iPhone 6 is now pretty much as good as what you'd ever get from a pocket camera (and the automatic GPS tagging and Photos integration makes photo management a joy).

So it's the Canon for serious photography, and the iPhone for non-serious photography.

Happen to be considering this too. I have a Samsung note 2 phone. Lags quite abit now.
But phone easy to bring around and whip out.

also have A mirrorless camera that I bought few years back. Find the kit lens kinda bulky and heavy to bring around, shopping, etc. Plus I don't really wanna look touristy walking around with the camera strap hanging on my neck. Thinking of bringing with just the prime lens since lighter and more compact but quite boliao right?

Been thinking of getting a better PnS camera but never mind...

Is it bulky to bring a DSLR for tour? I am thinking of getting a PnS but the quality seems bad.

Get a prosumer camera. It won't look too intimidating and attract attention. At the same time, it is compact and takes great pictures quickly and easily. Something like my Canon G16.

I used a PnS Panasonic lumix camera. This camera can take dslr quality images if you are not a photography newbie. Recently, I switched to gopro + PnS camera.

Lumix has many good reviews but expensive. I will wait for CEE and see if i can get TZ60 at good price.

Using an OM-D with 17mm lense (34mm equiv). Wasn't really pleased with the colors for quite some time but I've finally managed to figure out how to get the RAW files to look good. It's really nice to just forget about white balance and tweak it when you get home. Less fiddling with the camera means faster shots.

The new(ish) 1" sensors like canon's g7x / sony's rx100mk3 are a nice compromise. Noticeable step up in quality from mobile phones while still being pocketable if you're not wearing tight jeans.

I've got a g7x and I bring it to all short weekend trips nowadays. Longer trips that makes it more worthwhile to pack I bring my dslr + lenses, and a gopro with various mounts for videos.

depends on what kind of trip:

Short trip with minimal sightseeing (eg bkk) - i bring a 4/3 with pancake lens
All other trips - d7100 with a nikkor 17-55mm f2.8

As expected, the answers range from PnS to mid-sized mirrorless and giant DSLRs. There's no right answer. It all depends on your priority, whether it is convenience or image quality.

I used to carry big SLRs (yes, the film type, before digital became common), then I switched to digital compact PnS, and tried out micro-four-thirds mirrorless on my trips.

At the end of the day, unless I'm going specifically for a photo-taking trip, I'll make do with a PnS because convenience is my highest priority for regular vacations. Your mileage might vary.
