What Mobo is best suitable?

Hello,

I need some guidance, advice, opinions as I'm quite noob in this type of thing.
I am looking to get i5-8600K to replace my current i7-6700.

What Mobo will be best suitable for i5-8600K for my need?

My PC case is Sharkoon T28 Midi ATX PC Case. Is this consider a micro ATX case?

My current Mobo, which is GA-H170-D3H (rev. 1.0), does not support i5-8600K. Yeah, I know mine setup is quite old but been using it for almost 3 years.

My rig is all rounder, I think. But of course best is to get a Mobo that is more for gaming. And if I would to get a gaming Mobo, will it fit into my current PC Case or I should get a bigger ATX case?

If your i7 6700 is old then my i5 3470, i3 4160, core 2 duo E6420 and my Pentium 4 is what? Ancient ah lol. I7 6700 still ok ma perhaps you might wanna upgrade GPU instead if wanna get better gaming performance.

This might surprise you but despite all the gaming crap plastered on mobo boxes, they have absolutely zero impact on gaming.

FYI,

I just replaced my gtx 970 to gtx 1070 (2nd hand) about a month ago. It is working well so far.

But every time I played the game, No Man's Sky, my cpu temp and load will shoot damn high. Temp went up to 80+ degree celsius, load was almost 100%.

Then I did a bit research to see if my cpu was overclock and turned out it was, and I have no idea the entire time. So I turned off the boost in the bios. Now the temp seems to be much better now, around 60-70+ degree celsius and load about 80+%.

I'm not sure why temp and load are still this high, either because of No Man's Sky is a very intensive game or somehow my cpu is bottlenecking or because I'm using stock fan cooler.

Indeed I'm quite surprise that so call "gaming" on mobo has zero impact on gaming.

I'm thinking if changing to a better cpu could help with playing high intensive game that also eats a lot of cpu usage and also better handling the load.

Can keep cpu, reapply thermal paste and change cpu cooler
