What PSU to get?

Hi all,

I'm told that it's always worth investing in a good PSU for durability. The PC will be just for casual usage without gaming, what kind of PSU should I be looking at?

Other thoughts: will a 120GB SSD be enough to house OS only while other applications are in the internal HDD?

A ssd will be good to house the os and apps,boot up speed much faster than int hdd. A 128gb ssd can be have had under 100sgd.

If there is no discrete graphics card, a FSP Hexa 400W is enough. Spend the savings on other stuff.

Appreciate the replies. I actually prefer a modular PSUs over non-modular ones, guess that will cost more too?

I've seen some good reviews on SuperFlower Leadex, plus it's 80+ Gold. However would that be an overkill if there's no GPU in the pc build? Or I could also use a 80+ Bronze?

Bronze, silver, gold & platinum refer to PSU efficiency. The higher the efficiency, the less power draw from mains for the same amount of power output. Any PSU of 500-600w of any of the above rating will do.

Personally i try to get slightly higher specs than i require (if u can afford to), because down the road you may have new requirements that needs a better PSU or that extra connections.

I don't think G series is modular though.

But if you want quality PSU, the X series is very very good (just check out jonny guru). Only downside of it is the price, Seasonic PSUs aren't exactly cheap........

Btw, I am using the 1000W platinum one.

But support is just as important and corbell is a reputable distro that has been around for a long long time.

Yeah, I realized G series aren't modular after you mentioned it.. X series are rather expensive and I don't think I need that much wattage either with my usage. Nonetheless, thanks!

G series is semi modular. Only the 24pin and 8pin are permanent. The rest of the cables are modular. I would go with this or leadex gold 650w.

I'm actually looking at an ITX case, TT Core V1. I'm not sure if it has the clearance to house the Leadex 650W.
