You can download Microsoft Office 2016 preview and see if you like it. If not just use google drive for free for word editing and presentation.

Pages, Keynotes and Numbers

If you're looking for Microsoft Office, then now it's available free for preview until later of this year. Then after that buy the subscription.

Even windows doesn't offer free for their own office suites to its user.

I seriously wonder why people still claim ms office is expensive where most comp fairs are selling at $89 for 1 year subscription and usually with a $20 voucher or cash rebate.

this kind of money a lot of people will not think twice of spending for a meal or drink.

if you are student, your uni should be able to offer it free as part of the education package with MS.

I personally feel that Numbers really isn't a good substitute for excel if you need to collaborate with others in an "Excel world". If you don't need to collaborate and you are ok with the learning curve on Numbers it's probably fine.

I'm fine with Keynote subbing for Powerpoint. But I will add that I don't have a lot of experience going back and forth between the two. Maybe heavy users would disagree.

I rarely if ever use Word/Pages.

I previously purchased MS Office for Mac under my company's Home Use Program ($15) a few years ago but now I'm on Office 365 across all my devices as it enables both my fiance and me to use one "Home" licence for 5 computers (both Win and Mac) + our iPhones, iPads and my Surface 3. If you buy on discount it's not bad and if you buy say a tablet PC which comes with a 12 month Office 365 licence (such as some cheaper tablets) there is also an option available (at least on my Surface 3) to convert it to 9 months of Home licence instead so it can be used on multiple devices as I had an existing subscription. I also saw Office 365 Home on sale in KL for RM185 at a few stores/expos/etc last weekend!
