Most probably, you will be charged with the punishment of ''SOL'' or "RP". Becos since you have informed someone, but you shold be told your sgt in the first place.

SOL means - Stoppages of Leaves. When others book out, you stayed in. You will need to report to guard room to the guard comd everytime when 10pm or guard turnout (This charge was still on in my times, dont know now still have or not). When you got charged in SAF, SOL and fines wont be recorded, but if you got DB, this offence will be noted down effecting your chances of working in civil setors and going to Singapore Uni.

RP means - Restriction of Privilages. Meaning when your mates go on nights off, you got to stay in. When your company is on block leave or off, you stay in. no canteen breaks, no smoke breaks, only one thing increases, MORE regimental duties...

Non-compliances of orders are actually minor offences. Unles your OC is a f**k type OC, those siao-on ones, you might get a DB charged if he report this to your CO. During my days in 4 SIR as a CO-runner / Clerk / Rifleman, I saw many cases of minor offences being covered up from OC levels. If CO knows, maybe CO charge, when CO charge, it means DB. My CO charged 15 soldiers when he first arrived.

Good luck to you.

If ur IC is willing to verify for u, at least u did inform someone and hopefully ur IC updated the parade state about ur MC if not consider AWOL. At most kanna extra nia and not anything major or if ur OC is good, maybe just warning bah

I doubt its so major to that extend of SOL and DB

You never know. In SAF, minor cases can blow up into major cases just becos officers wayang. When I was in 4 SIR, I saw some extra duties cases being excalated into SOL. We even got one OC charged his men to a record high of 15 men in a single day. My colleagues in S1 br got lots of problems generating charged reports. Thus, only a certain handful of officer I really admired in my 4 SIR days - they are good examples for men. Apart from that, also a few lao ciks I admired them. Even the young officers looked upon them as uncles.

Other then these handful, most were CMI ones.

Depends on the personnel's usual behavior. If is a troublemaker then they will surely use it as an excuse to increase punishment if not it should not be anything too serious.

Yes... Thanks for adding, I miss this out. 4 SIR is reowned for troublemakers. Got a few monsters went AWOL, DB, AWOL, DB, stealing from camp, AWOL, DB again and again, you name it, they done it.

When I was 20 plus that time, those monsters were 30 plus... When I ORDed on 2002, the time thing I heard was one of the monsters stole a bike, ride out of camp and never heard of one of this monster again...

Well, many places have many stories, just one of the stories to share around. Back to the thread, I dont think TS will be punished severely, at most is extra duties or verbal warning from OC.

But I still think TS damn epic. The very very first person I will inform if I am on MC or whatever stuff is my SGT follow by PC. Inform IC is only to cover his ass and also yours. You cover his ass cause he will at least know WhereTF you are when SGT ask. If he doesn't know you also will kena.

EPIC...

yea , TS never follow the proper chain of command.End of the day I think wouldn't be that serious since there is mc covering.Just make sure to inform anything to your sgt in future TS.

depends of how the commanders want to see it.

if they see it as non-compliances of orders then it is not so major.

if they see it as awol cos he never inform the spec or wo then sol and db is highly possible.

If he covered by MC, i don't think can be charged as AWOL

unlikely to be charged. at most sign extra or verbal warning.

His superiors were able to contact him and find out the reason for his absence so thats it.

If the JDO decides to press charges and hold a summary trial, he/she is either very silly or may have been misguided by the person advocating those charges. In such a case, I'll advise the person to refuse the charges and request for trial by court martial for a frivolous matter.

PCM will throw the case out.

It really depend on your commander cause there is no law stated that serviceman cannot smoke in camp.

If I am your commander & want to charge you, your offence will be 'insubordination' and anything that come along with 'disregard to fire safety risk that endanger to self and others due to smoking in an inappropriate place in camp'.

Then most likely you will be in DB.

However from my experience in SAF, most likely just some light punishment like sign extra duties, confinement & etc.
