Hi guys, pardon me if this is not the correct section for this topic. Im not sure where else to seek opinion on such matters.

I have this old gaming desktop built in 2008. It has broken down since 2013 due to faulty PSU and hasn't been replaced and used yet. Now im tidying up stuffs and thinking I should try to let it go for some cash, but I dont know how to go about it as well as the market price for this old boy now?

Rebuilding it with new parts would cost me another bomb, just want to seek any valuable opinion on how should I get this going, carousell/marketplace?

Anyway below are the specs

Intel Core I7-920
Motherboard: Gigabyte Ex58-Extreme
Ram: 3GB
Graphics: Palit Radeon 4870
HDD: 1 x 500GB & 1 x 750GB
PSU: Gigabyte 720W(Spoilt)
Asus DVD-RW drive
USB 3 adaptor installed
Thermalright ultra 120 extreme heatsink
Antec 900 casing
Samsung 23" SW2333 LCD Monitor

Appreciate any help! Thanks!

If u ask me, maybe about $200 bah without monitor...

Cos the ppl who are likely to buy it are those it pros or geeks who are looking for cheap server part or yesterday tier server to build their homeland.

Assuming is only ur PSU that is spoilt....

Gamers looking for second hand stuff have more modern stuff to look forward to, like system made from 2012 - even 2015.

You can definitely get some money for this. I usually sell my stuff on vr-zone and you can also try Marketplace. I avoid Carousell but if you don't mind the low-ballers, there should be a better response rate there.

If u ask me, get a new PSU, graphic card n optionally, an ssd.

I see, this would be my last resort...as of now just wanting to see can let go for some extra cash rather than let it sitting down there.

How much power and graphics should I be looking for now? Haven't really been updated, currently only into light gaming like dota2. If its cost friendly maybe I'll try. Haha

Thanks! I've posted on these channels moments ago. Now just hope to see some responses. But I really dont know how much should I be expecting to get back from this pc?

Paiseh, did not read about the selling part.

I would say around $200 excluding monitor...

From what i read, this pc is broken and you assume is psu faulty. So the rest all ok? Have you tried it and see?

Anyway i do not think worth much. Maybe hdd can sell for $10-$20. Casing and monitor maybe another $50.

When i turned on the pc, there was a loud pop and burnt smell coming from the PSU. Thats when it couldnt be switched on anymore. I assumed its the PSU though as i had no replacement to test the remaining parts.

About $30 for the GPU, not sure about the rest. I just read that your PSU burnt out. You might want to check that the other components are working before selling or at least inform potential buyers in advance.

Would it be wise to bring it down to sim lim for a full check? Im afraid i dont have any ways to test the system at home. Any idea which shop can i approach for a pleasant experience?

Would it be worth it? Time and distance travelled and min also maybe $10 to check then end of day to sell low valued item. Min you can check monitor by yourself? Any laptop or console to try connect?

As other have said, not worth the time and expense. Suggest you use the PSU from your present rig to test or just sell as a lot highlighting to buyers the risk.
