What to expect for first ICT?

ITI = Infantry Training Institute. I was in almost always in ITI during my ICT days.

People who posted there were mostly from the Infantry Regiments. (I was from 5SIR last time). U will most prob be doing this u did during your active days, unless they decide to send u go do conversion course to another vocation.

Since u was an auto tech, my guess is that u will probably join the MT line bah. But ITI vehicles seems mostly managed by outsourced company (Comfort delgro IIRC). So not sure if there are still NSF or NSmen auto tech in the camp

Bring enough coins to buy drinks from the vending machines conveniently located around the camp. The Cobra Mess is quite a distance from the Bunks.

FBO means bring all your barang barang to camp lo. My time in ITI is stayed in, Nights off are given at the discretion of your CO, OC or PC

Prob repair recee jeep & 5 tonner? Ford everest i understand is all outsourced to ST.

Is there even a MT line at ITI? Nowadays v diff. Last time almost every batallion will have a maint coy. Now they decentralise into whats called forward maint base & each FMB handles vehicles from several camps depending on location.. If there is one near ITI i guess u will be sent there but even then its odd, cos u should come under their strength & not ITI's.

There are MT lines at ITI. Drivers there are also NSmen from the same battalion as the infantry companies. There is also a seperate MT line staffed by NSFs.

IIRC, MT line are mainly drivers. I dun remember seeing any NSF or NSmen doing vehicle maintenance. These jobs seems to be outsourced to ST or comfort delgro

EDIT: The MT line doing vehicle maintenance is housed in Jurong Camp 1. Camp 1 is just next to camp 2. Camp 2, which ITI is based in, only houses the vehicles.

So when u say you are auto tech vocation, are u generally known as B-mech? B for B vehicles..

While some maintenance jobs are outsourced, it doesnt mean that you are not needed. Your job is prob to provide support while you and your unit is outfield. You can't expect the uncles and civilian workers from the outsource company to travel into the field to provide service.

As your first ICT, if you meet your buddies from your active unit, thne it's prob the whole batch of your unit forming the reservist unit. Then this unit will go thru the whole NS cycle and you all will MR together. If this is the case, then the first ICT should be quite relaxed. Refresher training, ippt etc. For the combat pple, will prob progress from section training etc..and thru the years platoon then company...then the whole battalion...thus another test for the unit.

If you are joining existing unit, then expect the unit to be somewhere in between. Maybe already battalion exercise etc. - that's when some new guys joined my unit halfway, when my unit already some years into the cycle.

Also ITI is just a name. It doesn't mean you are in ITI or posted to. ITI support the unit that is in training.
