What's good at SIM?

Been in a dilemma recently due to university applications.

Just a bit of background, I'm graduating from a local poly with a gpa of 3.47. Applied to NUS, SMU and NTU but still haven't gotten any replies. I applied to SUSS and was put on the waiting list... so I'm starting to consider applying to SIM GE just in case things don't work out.

I have interest in business and always score well in my business modules but got pulled down by other modules (and **** groupmates). But that's not the main point.

Would like to ask everyone for recommendations of a good course in SIM for business/finance/banking/management!

Currently am interested in University of London (UOL)'s Banking and Finance Degree. But I saw some negative feedback about the course and now I'm at a loss at what I should go for.

Would appreciate some help!

Want consider SUSS as well? 3.47 I think you have a high chance of being accepted to their full time programme.

Don’t lose hope man , now IGP for Business in SG Uni drop so much , my friend with similar result secured an interview at SMU accountancy the other day .

With your GPA, you May want to consider SUSS Finance or SIT Accountancy . Good Luck

With your cumulative GPA you should be able to secure a spot in SMU. Have you tried SIT or SUSS?

Unless your GPA damn cui, I always tell my friends who want to upgrade or pursue a degree to put SIM GE as their last option (Currently in SIM-RMIT Accountancy) because the qualification is not as prestige as compared to other Unis. Getting a job after graduating might be a lot more difficult (hearsay some of my seniors have graduated 6 months or slightly lesser still unemploy).

'Cos my GPA isn't as ideal as yours, my choices were quite limited and I have only found out how insignificant my degree is along my academic journey.

UOL programs are quite grueling (for me) in a sense that there is 0% individual/group assignment. Which means to say your finals carry 100% weightage, if you screwed it up, you will have to wait for one more year retake the module.

So, if you are not the studious student, I do not recommend you to enroll into UOL. There have been too many cases of dropouts or students who have to retain.

I tried SUSS but am on the waiting list. So am planning to apply for private uni as a backup plan! SIT isn't for me because I don't have an interest in accountancy and they don't have a course I have an interest in.

Yeah I heard about the 100% exam weightage which sucks big time. Do you know any other private schools under SIM that is a better alternative? Because UOL seems to be the most well-known school.

Tbh I'm leaning towards UOL because the school fees are the lowest. I'm someone who does fairly in exams but I also don't feel very confident.

UOL heavy on exams , RMIT have projects. Depends on what You prefer. UOL very low passing rate though , passing is already tough.

UOL low passing rate just means they didn’t choose to grad on a curve
My friends at UOL find it hard to pass as they are not putting in the effort, those who work hard are rewarded.
If ppl in put in crazy effort and still cannot pass that’s different story but reality that’s not the case from my observation.
