Last time in schools still got public caning. Now hush hush dun dare, got too many red tape, must go through simi restorative practices, counselling, self -reflection. Moral & Civics education lessons use for core subjects.. Conduct in report books must be all good or excellent, otherwise parent complain cannot get Edusav awards or direct schook admissions. Nowadays teachers must kowtow to parents. Lol.

Nowadays , can always plead mental illness in mitigation, can reduce sentence one. Get the best lawyers or show outstanding academic results to prove that the offender has very good future prospects.

their rebellious streak takes it out at the group that is causing them their plight.

when there is cause, there is effect. but boomers won't understand coz they are always in denial mode.

Can also argue that last time parents more strict with their kids and tekan them physically to instill a sense of fear into them and to respect others. Nowadays the kids more spoilt and rotten, do not respect other people.

justifying violent on your own offspring is the the coz of so much problem. children growing up with lots of resentment and hate that they have to deal with for the rest of their life.

you realised there are a lot of very bad parents out there right? you gave them autonomy of executing violent, they will use it to take it out on their own family members as their shame avoiding mechanism. and further blaming their action as "disciplining the child".

just ask many of us here, how many of us have parents that will came home drunk and decided that it was a time to tear off the door and physically punish the kids? you are telling me that alcohol makes clear headed to rationally teach that kids some life skill?

To add on, my teacher friends told me that nowadays they also don't dare to scold students cos students will say they depressed, then go cut themselves or want to die, then become is teachers' de fault.

I had a tutee who told me not to scold him cos once his ex tutor did, his mother sacked her.

I always blame the parents as the children learn from them. If parents don't discipline then it's worse.
Only yesterday I saw a girl and her younger brother, both about 8 to 10 years old making a ruckus on the bus the min they boarded it. First was running around as they looked for seats and then playfully fighting with each other as they screamed. All the while their mother just made weak attempts to ask them to stop but they were obviously not afraid of her.
Many passengers were visibly upset and I controlled myself and I wanted to tell them off.
These types of children will definitely grow up being selfish and inconsiderate.

Stop encouraging low-ses breeding and you won't have these problems.

It isn't a coincidence these youth problems start cropping up in recent years after gov started giving financial aid on a household per capita basis, which encourages the low ses to breed exponentially.

Don't forget our open leg policy. There are many low ses workers taking roots here with their children. Remember how common it was 20 years ago when we had study mamas and now more of the other nationalities.

must see if they're from dual income family which thee parents bochup or if from single mother's family where mother every child request also say yes..

Inb4 last time also got such cases but just not as publicised as nowadays.. but that doesn't mean we let it be.. should think of why the issue occurs and try to resolve it.. maybe explore how they resolve it in the past if paast really got such stuff happening?

If want to blame parents only, make sure that kid is homeschooled or not enrolled in any education institution.

Disciplinary problems- I opine that since 20 years ago, teachers are not allowed to discipline students and with the western influence, even spanking by parents is not allowed as it’s child abused. Heck, even scolding children is frowned upon as psychological abuse

So we are where we are today.

I think could be due to new citizens bringing in barbaric behavior here.
