Blue chips are good. Just average in if you think the price is too high. Over the long term, the STI is gaining 8% annually, where do you think that came from?

The same thing with SPY, DJIA...

Blue chips plus diversification, one of the best foolproof combo, not gonna drum it into a certain famous 'FATA' strategy though.

Blue chips usually have a group of loyal followers who hold on to the stock no matter the up and down cycle. Why do so many people hold on to it, despite the market's up and down, for decades?
The company fundamentals are sound, that right there is the reason why most blue chips has a premium price.

Of Course, there are always some black sheeps so Diversify.

Usually if I need a quick number, I would google it with bloomberg, example "capitalmall trust bloomberg"

I usually just quick scan stuff like PE, Price/book and dividend yield

to dig further, best still to read their annual reports and quarterly reports
