Whatsapp backup and restore

Anyone has any ways or recommendation for whatsapp backup and restore in ios?

Tried itunes backup but restore to new phone failed.
Tried to backup whatsapp (less than 5gb) to icloud but stuck at certain size/percentage in progress seems forever. deleted whatsapp data from icloud and try again and same issue.
whatsapp and ios is latest version.

iTunes/iCloud both worked for me. for iCloud u need 2.05 times the space available in your iCloud account and on your phone than the actual size of your backup.

For me I WhatsApp in-app backup to iCloud. If you facing any backup issue then try to delete the backup manually in iCloud, then retry in-app backup. Should work.

when i see a iphone that has successful icloud whatsapp backup, the total backup is 4gb in whatsapp. i go icloud backup and saw whatsapp occupies 4gb too. it does not take 2.05 times.

I think you will resolve your problem by paying for bigger size iCloud.

Tbh, a small price to pay for backing up your data

that could be a reason why its stuck at 4gb cos there is not enough space in icloud to continue the backup.

u can try disable/delete backup of photo library and see if it gets you to more than your current whatsapp backup size.
if it does, probably mean icloud storage not enough to continue.

if it doesn't, after backup, try to logout from icloud.
wait awhole, then relogin again and restore.

it’s in e WhatsApp faq. not I say one. just google.

not true, I have over 100gb of iCloud previously but encountered the same problem as TS. Does the backup of the phone to iCloud usually that long?

I've been having the same issue where my iCloud backup stops at 2% even though I have more than enough iCloud storage space. I've read some threads with people have similar issues and they seem to have some success getting Apple Support to "rebuild" their iCloud storage.

For myself, I've just been backing up my WhatsApp chat via full phone backups on iCloud and iTunes...but the downside with that approach is if I wanna restore just my WhatsApp chat, I'd have to restore my entire iPhone at the same time.

1. Delete whatsapp data from icloud.
2. Backup your icloud, turn off your icloud.
3. Backup whatsapp data from whatsapp.
4. Turn on your icloud.

One thing I noticed while doing WhatsApp backup for iPhone, is that the WiFi connection must be stable/strong enough. Otherwise mine will slow down at 95%.

I like the way Wechat allows the transferring of chats via wifi to another phone. If Whatsapp follows suit, no need those paid programs anymore.

backup contacts also..
