Its's encrypted from end to end meaning the contents of your message cannot be intercepted by anyone i.e. the message will only be received by the intended recipient's device.

This is to prevent the FBI etc from snooping around

Without this, they can just intercept the messages flying over the internet and read them as they're in plain text just by installing their software/hardware on Whatsapp's/telco servers and volia! They will be able to view millions or billions of messages live.

With this encryption now, don't tell me they're going to steal millions of phones to view the messages

My phone n coy phone using same version whatsapp but my phone claimed that my coy phone not using latest whataspp n so not encrypted.
