Whenever someone sends me a whatsapp message, the sender sees only ONE tick. It takes a while or sometimes even as long as 1 hour before the sender sees TWO ticks. I did some trouble shooting and found out that this happens only when I’m on home WIFI. If im on DATA SIM (5g, 4g), no such problem and the sender sees TWO ticks immediately as soon as they send a message.

I have changed phones (S21 to S23 ultra) and changed telco (M1, Starhub,Singtel, Zym) but the problem is still there.

Google couldn’t me too. If any of you have experienced problems like mine, please help.

Since it only happens on WiFi, you never suspect it is your home WiFi problem?

hmm. try DNS settings on your router and on your phone.
under connections > more connection settings > Private DNS

try using cloudflare or google dns.

You can try setting the WhatsApp app to be not optimised for battery savings. I.e. will not go to sleep at all.

Keep your Wi-Fi on during sleep mode by going to your phone's Settings app > Wi-Fi > Settings icon > Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep > Always.

Make sure that Wi-Fi optimization is turned off. Go to your phone’s Settings > Cellular. Scroll down and turn off Wi-Fi Assist.
Turn off Do Not Disturb mode. Go to your phone’s Settings > Focus. Under SET A SCHEDULE, tap On. Toggle Schedule to turn it off.
