Anyone experience iPhone (12 pro) unable to restore the latest whatsapp backup?
I just did whatsapp backup on old iPhone but when tried to restore from new iPhone, the only backup date appears 22 Jan.

I am facing the same problem. My backup restore to new iPhone was only till 9 Oct, but then I realised it was because in my old iPhone, the last backup was on 9 Oct. So I went back to the old phone and backup the latest to iCloud, then went back to new phone to restore. But it still stuck at 9 Oct.

Old iPhone iOS updated to the latest? And both iPhone WhatsApp update to latest?

If iOS version different, you would face problem

Try again. I'm able to restore the latest backup now.

Doing iphone to iphone


As such. Try this. I think ios14 has this fantastic feature

1)erase your new phone to factory default
2)setup to the screen that ask options to restore
3)restore ‘phone to phone’
4)bring your old iphone near to new iphone. Then magic happens
5)follow on screen instruction. Transfer process is like about 40 minutes.transfer is done like Photocopy like that. Very smooth and fastest restore ever.

All
WhatsApp foto video and other things will be identical. It took me only 5 minutes to review my new phone data and then I immediately moved on from there.

(I wonder if it’s using wifi or Bluetooth to do phone to phone transfer)

i think this feature happen in android long ago...now then they bring in...anyway for me i use one for backup all then restore on new iphone on my laptop since i everyday since my phone

Just wanna assure people(like TS) here that they can restore efficiently without worry of losing data. Or Atleast needing to wait for iCloud backup to download

Everyone has some share of introducing something efficient and new


‘Phone to phone ‘ could have existed in android before. Can give credit to them bah


But I remember during iphone 4 and iphone 5 times , android usually promote transfer data by exchanging Sd card. And apple was usually laptop backup and then restore to new phone. At that time , I thought the laptop method iphone introduced was super efficient . Cos I prefer not spending too much time on setting up the device. I remember spending 2-3 hrs or half a day during iphone 4>5>6 time for setting up my phone. Also need lots of attention

Then for iphone 12.... I started the process from outside plaza sing. And by the time I reached home the whole process ended(passively) and I continued my day with new phone within 90 minutes of collection.

(Btw your phone looks awesome. If I can turn back time I would like select iphone 12 pro instead of 12. Experience and feel of iphone 12 pro feels better. Prefer stainless steel even though it’s heavy and fingerprint magnet. )

I didn’t have to do any downloading from iCloud backup for my WhatsApp


I just restore and was in my house wifi. All the apps got downloaded and was able to use Whatspp within 5 minutes. So don’t think it downloaded anything form the iCloud backup

Anyone has this issue transferring old iPhone to new iPhone 12 Pro Max via side by side copy method — both phone on iOS 14.2, after nearing the end of copy, the new IP12 seems completed (left the copy transfer screen) but the old iPhone stuck at 4min remaining for very long time (>1hr until I manually end it).

Everything seems to be on new IP12, including of WhatsApp, photo and video, etc

i had the same problem as u.
what i did was, after backing up on old iphone, i turn flight mode on old iphone.
on my new iphone12, i logout from icloud. reboot and login back to icloud.
then install whatsapp and the backup was the one i backed up on old iphone minutes ago when prompted to restore.

Purchased the dr.fone license for Mac to transfer my whatsapp from android to iphone successfully.

Was just playing around and testing cuz I have 5 licenses.. Very impressed that it not only managed to transfer everything smoothly, it even managed to properly merge my main Android Whatsapp from 2015-2020 with my old iOS whatsapp chats from Nov-Dec 2019 (used an iphone for just 1 month last year)!

Wondering now if I should also experiment merging my even older iOS whatsapp chats pre 2015..

I hope you had solve your issue. I had the same when i was restoring my backup. Almost want to give up, but heng heng let me solve it... so here is my "solution"

Try to sign out your icloud from your new phone. Then re-sign in again. I did that and was managed to pull back the latest whatsapp backup. Hope this will work for you
