Just got the mi6 local set as well. However, I'm having difficulties using android pay. NFC is the main reason why I pick this phone over the other mi.

I test NFC app to make sure I know where the NFC is, it's at the TOP of the device. I also make sure android pay app is running, added it as exception to the to the battery Optimisation etc, but I tap when making payment, nothing happen :/

Anyone with similar issues?

Go to the NFC setting page and use HCE wallet?

Finally manual mode have more than 1/4 sec exposure in stock camera app with the latest beta rom. However only for the wide lens, tele lens is still 1/2 sec.:(

haha. eh bored is one thing, MIUI is also another thing. dunno leh i have a problem
but i do wish the Mi 6 came with stock Android. MIUI is really not very nice lol..

Just use Nova prime and you can customize it

If you feel adventurous, can always try lineageOS or a few others out there. But basic EU ROM with root support should be quite fun

Previous PIXEL experience taught me that even with rooting I still need to flash Magisk to hide root from system or I can't use Snapchat

In the end, still iPhone fits my needs lol :s13:

What is the best price for the local Mi 6 set? I know standard price is $599 on Lazada. Use $200 Wogi voucher, plus Liveup and whatever credit card that gives the best rebate?

haven't tinkered with Android phones in such a long time. nowadays there are so many restrictions; e.g. rooted with SuperSU, you can't use Android Pay and Snapchat, need Magisk and its root cloak ability. very ma fan

Magisk already includes root so you just need a module with safetynet fix and you are all set to run android pay or snapchat. Alot of cool stuff can be done with root but i wouldnt expect regular guy to know how. A few root stuff that i can recommend trying
1) phone automation - enable wifi when you are home/office, turn off wifi when not. bluetooth, sound volume, etc control base on location
- enable auto rotation ONLY when running certain apps like youtube, video or whatever you want. turn off auto rotate when not running those apps
- enable high accuracy gps only when maps are invoked, back to battery saver when no maps running
- turn off mobile data, wifi, sync at certain time and turn back on at certain time
- depends on your imagination you can set it up to automate whatever you want

2) Titanium backup - backup apps and data so you can restore it back when needed

3) Adaway - no more Ads on apps or whatever

4) xposed - too many modules to list

Jailbreak on the other hand is a lot more complicated plus iphone doesnt even support theming so it will never be my daily phone

I had such a hard time setting up the safety net fix for my pixel XL, gave up, flash back to factory image, lock boot loader and sold.

very ma fan nowadays... last time rooting Android was easy and fun, seems to be getting more and more complicated

Saw that RedwhiteMobile selling this for $550, much easier than going through the Lazada Liveup + Wogi Voucher + credit card rebate

I think you need to read more la.. it's as easy as downloada module and enable it.. worst case is download a ROM that already does everything for you

Things are getting more complicated becos technology has improved and so is the security on the phone

For those who unlock the boot loader, how Long you guys wait ah?

I first time use Xiaomi and was a bit impatient and tried multiple times registering to get the Mi Unlock Tool (keep saying my IP issue).
