Yup my widgets also pull the vanishing act. So i have stopped using any. I am on official "stable" china rom somemore. Guess some reviewer's comment that Miui 8 on Android 7 is still very buggy is correct. Hopefully Xiaomi will release a updated truly stable china rom soon...to tide over till stable global roms can be had (if ever).
My situation is I can't even re-add the widgets because they disappear from the widgets selection even! Lol.

Nope. Shop ROM.
One of the bros here mentioned some kind of temp bootloader unlock etc etc so there must be methods, but waaay beyond this noob!
To check what nand chips is in the phone, install Terminal Emulator for Android. Then enter the command cat /proc/scsi/scsi

For those who ordered from qoo10. What is the "safety mark approved plug" in the order option for additional $5? I selected it but forgot to ask shop when I collected.
They give you a power adaptor with the blue safety mark sticker pasted on appliances passed for local use.

Err. I didn't have this. I only got the box. Wasted $5.
Unlikely but any chance there is a blue safety mark on your charger plug? It says "Safety Mark" with logo like 6 and 9 merged together.
Why not call the shop to ask for it. I doubt they gonna eat ur $5
There is only one speaker on the bottom, the other holes are for the microphone.

I think is same as mi note 2. Speaker is one side. The other is mic.
