Asking for my brother...

He is enlisting this year, and he has high hopes of signing on as an Officer in the Air Force. Preferably as a pilot (life long dream), but he doesn't mind other vocations in the Air Force too.

His background:
Poly grad in aerospace engineering
PES A
Silver for NAPFA
6/6 vision

I've seen people saying that to have a better chance of getting into OCS, he should indicate his interest in command school and signing on. Is this during BMT? When should he sign on? Only after he gets into OCS (if he gets it) or during BMT, so that he might have a higher chance of getting into OCS?

Also, any pilot-specific tips...?

Of course this is if he finds army life suited for him.. but he seems pretty set on it.

Thanks :)

I think if he wants to become a pilot, it would be better for him to go apply way before hand so they can schedule those necessary test.

Means haven't enlisted yet right? Sounds like both of you also haven't enlisted.
BMT got lots of career talk, so just indicate your interest to those recruitment officer. If you are shortlisted, you may be asked to take some tests during BMT, then after POP (during the block leave) they will ask you go for interview etc.

If you never hear from them at all, then too bad, you can keep on applying through online lor.

if you sign on at the start of bmt or before, you will have a much higher chance of going OCS. But as you are now in the spotlight, if you screw up anything also will reflect twice as badly.

Thanks for all the tips guys... seems like the main advice is to sign on as early as possible? I guess the risk here is that if he doesn't make it into OCS, he will be stuck cos he has already signed on.

Yes, he hasn't enlisted and I will not enlist because I'm a girl, haha.

Thanks for the advice.

errr....i think contract void if sign officer scheme but didn't get into OCS. so not exactly a risk

and you really stand a much higher chance of getting into OCS if you sign on much earlier.

actually the most important criteria to be an air force pilot is your sitting height and the length of your arms and legs.

too tall or too short also cannot, too long or too short also cannot.
