For me... i prefer to buy graphics cards with reference cooler design from Nvidia/AMDIt needs to be powerful enough for medium-high settings and not too hot so not too noisy from fans.

Why card length longer is better? Spread temperature? More stable?
I see it as not efficient use of space.
Ref cooler takes in air and exhaust them out from the back. Non-ref blows out air into the case.
Length not important. But I prefer 2 slot over 3.
Which is to say, they will definitely use two slots?
