Hi, a JC student lurker here.

I was supposed to be enlisted in early December (PES B1L1, failed NAPFA =/) right after my As. Leg hurt when I run throughout the year, but wanted to be officer so never say anything at first...

Then it got pretty bad so I finally end up going for specialist, then end up going for an MRI which showed some bone damage (edema (??) or something), and the specialist diagnosed it as a stress reaction and wrote a letter explaining how I shouldn't be running/jogging anytime soon. Turn out is like shin splints, but special case keep coming back once I run no matter how long I rest?

So I went to MCC to tell them, but according to their guidelines, stress fracture then can down PES, so I ended up in limbo middle-of-nowhere temp PES D and an appointment for further review with their bone specialist, which was supposed to take place "as soon as possible"...

Drag until now liao, haven't got the appointment date. Called them, they said probably in February because a lot of people need see the guy...

I didn't pass my NAPFA, so if PES A/B need enlist in March if I'm not wrong. if PES C got one February batch and it looks like I'll be missing that...

I'm really very worried that if I miss all the JC batches I will be enlisting very late which can affect stuff like uni admission. Will this kind of thing happen?

85% of my friends enlisting in February... The rest latest May. I'll hate to be out of phase with my cohort and while I hold no prejudice against poly students, I doubt I will be very comfortable enlisting with them, considering I don't know anyone from their culture or of their lifestyle, and that I'll be the odd one out amongst them...

So, any advice/comments/reassurance with regards to my current predicament? Would really appreciate some positive input here...

Top rule of being an officer is to be able to be adaptive. If you can't, what can you expect of people who might be under you in future. You obviously only wants to stay in comfort zone, you are you are even of officer material?

I don't think officership is a primary concern... Not any more, leastways for the time being.

But I do accept your criticism and acknowledge your point. I've lead a structured life and never had the trouble of going off-rail. However, I ask that you try to understand that this situation is unprecedented for me, and that I have little reason to want to leave my comfort zone for this particular case.

then I dunno how you will be able to adapt to life in the working world.

Probably sad life.

Anyway shouldn't you be less concerns about what's going to be happening in the 2 years and more concern about missing the intake and this when you go UNi, u will be 1 year late as compared to your peers?

I believe I did mention that "I'm really very worried that if I miss all the JC batches I will be enlisting very late which can affect stuff like uni admission." and that I don't want to be "out of phase" with my peers.

If you had only said the first part, and not the second part, I believe people would be more sympathetic towards you. But sadly you didn't.

Maybe it's a baptism of fire. Good luck

Anyway I am from poly batch. I just want to tell you that people you enlist with are your age group (now should be 1994/95 batch). There is no difference in being with poly or JC and you won't be outcasted because of that.
The only probably will be JC and poly have slightly different ideology with regards to school.

Anyway missing a year in uni, is it even the core concern? If you are admitted into local uni, you can apply for deferment to defer the last few months of your NSF. There are many JC students who ORDed on dec but still waited till July for their uni to start, so I don't see why is that even top of your concern?

Just slow by 1 year won't cause you to be out of phase with your peers. If you are thinking that your peers are only restricted to your JC friends you have known, then I really have to say you are really narrow-minded. You can always know a bunch of new friends in uni.

Anyway just to answer your qns. You will probably miss your JC batch enlistment. The earliest will be on June where the with the poly batch. I have no idea when pes C Enlist as I only know pes A/B enlistment.

I believe what he meant by missing a year of uni is because JC batch usually enlist between Dec and the 1st half of the year. Hence, regardless of what (unless go DB or what not) people in JC batches will definitely ORD before the commencement of local university school year. Hence if TS does not enlist in one of the JC batches, he would have to disrupt when others don't have to.

I think it's not so much about the people TS is going to mix with, but rather he will lugi as compare to his peers in the same cohort as his.
