At present, I only see Intel 6th generation Core i5 6600K and Core i7 6700K on Sim Lim Square pricelists.

When will Intel release more 6th generation Core i7 processors?

When will the price of 6th generation Intel Core i7 + Z170 socket 1151 motherboard combo drop?

When will the price of DDR4 memory drop?

I am hoping that with the release of more Intel 6th generation Skylake processors, the prices would be cheaper.

How about wait long long?

There is no such thing as price drop in intel context when selling processors.

Processors do not drop price till it is obsolete. Or when the next gen processors are out. If you are smart enough, google will tell you more, and amazon price check will tell you more.

Doesnt mean that more processors of the same categories will push their same categories processor prices downwards.

So if you want to have skylake processors to go downwards, how about waiting till next probably 2 years from now.

Just buy AMD APU chips ba, if u r so concerned about price.

Intel is not Nvidia. For Intel, no competition = no reason to cut profits = no cuts in prices.

The performance of AMD APUs is not as good as Intel Core processors.

U can really wait long long for prices of Skylake chips to fall.

U noe y royfrosty told u to wait long long? Look at the current Haswell/Hashwell-Refresh prices. A new generation of CPU chips have risen and replaced them. Look at how much they are still selling in Sim Lim Square, on Amazon, Lazada, Rakuten etc. Have the prices fallen to a point where u can go bargain hunting? So how long will u wait for a new generation of CPU chips to replace Skylake and wait for prices of Skylake chips to fall?

Seems like you have no need for these Skylake chips. Else if u really had a need, u would have already bought these chips irregardless of selling price, and not set up a thread here asking people when the sky (lake) is going to fall.

I need the Skylake Intel Core i7 processors to do Ultra HD 4K video rendering. With my present 4th generation Intel Core i5 4430, it takes 12 hours to render a 2-hour 4K video. I want to shorten the time it takes to render a 4K video substantially.

Then shouldn't u be looking at Haswell-E instead? 6-core vs 4-core, the rendering times scale well. Somemore, i7-5820k pricing can match i7-6700k, and u can overclock the i7-5820k to 4.5GHz to get more juice out the processor for even faster rendering times?

I7 5820k bundle is more expensive than i7 6700k bundle.

Somemore I want to future proof my purchase. I will not settle for anything lesser than a 6th generation Skylake i7 processor. I don't think I will go for a 5th generation Haswell-e processor. Maybe Intel will release a 6-core Skylake i7 processor?

I think you should consider migrating towards 5820k.
The additional core and threads will be more useful than going to an i7 version in Skylake atm.

There is no way a skylake 4 core processor can compete again a 6 core haswell e version. Dont become myopic over the fact that it is a 5th generation. By future proofing - what exactly do you mean? 3 years down the road it will definitely be another new socket.
