where did VPN server go?

I wanted to turn my cousin's old mac mini into a VPN server. However the server app does not seem to have a VPN setting??

Unless I am going senile I remembered that there used to be a VPN setting in the sever app??

IMO ever since apple ditched the xserve, there is no good use for a macOS server

Can you check the Server app's View menu if the VPN service is listed? I read some where that if you install Server app on a fresh macOS computer, some of the Server services are hidden from the main window.

I spent half an hour clicking round the app. I thought I was going mad but apparently apple update it and gutted the VPN server functionality.

Are you using macOS Server 5.6? On a freshly installed system, the soon-to-be deprecated services are not gutted yet but hidden from the Server App sidebar--even the App description on the Mac App Store mentions it.

Did you visit the Server App menu bar and click on the "View" menu? Maybe you can screenshot and let us have a look?

Anyway, the Server App VPN service uses the same vpnd that is installed on every Mac computer. In other words, vpnd comes standard and the Server App is just a nice GUI to set it up.

or u can just use Homebrew to install openvpn. it should be available.
