Where to buy server part?

I like to know where can we buy server components, especially like LRDIMM ram, Xeon cpu and its motherboard.

Right now, I am thinking of Amazon, but is there like any option locally?

yup, taobao is one possibility. But then there will be a concern of authenticity. For some parts, it may still be cheaper to get from Amazon.

Warranty wise, aim for parts with global warranty, but otherwise may have to settle for oversea warranty.

Delivery wise, my research so far is that Singapore distributor may not be that well stocked; hence oversea may not lose out in terms of delivery time.

I got my Supermicro board, Xeon E3 and ECC Kingston rams from Amazon and have been quite happy with it. It has been over a year and warranty would've already lapsed for the motherboard. So no worries on my end.

I think you should only worry when you've got a DOA board. But then Amazon would send you a new one FOC, just pay for shipping to return the old one. (Or you can chat your way out of returning it. )

Just checked out the website. It seems to just sell the entire server or rack server rather parts for server

I think a possible strategy is to use cloud service such as Amazon Web Service(AWS) for urgent need, while waiting for parts to ship from oversea.

Wah, I didn't know that! I thought only full servers then got such contracts
