anyways to test a desktop ram is working during purchase ?
need to get a ddr3 ram since my old ram died on me

You can't test at the point of dealing. Need a working system to test when back home.

Do note memory has limited life time warranty. Try bring to distro for RMA.

well i would say ram is there is lifetime warranty, there is no harm as the chances of it failing is the same as buying it off-shelves

Can always claim warranty. Why buy 2nd hand RAM? You can always test it with Microsoft Windows memory test.

With memory price so high, it worth getting 2nd hand ram for an old rig at roughly ½ price of new ones.

Can always run a memory test after buying the new RAM. DDR3 RAM is very cheap. Can always claim warranty for the computer.

Ebay is the best for this. Really, justget it, run a memtest. If it fails, dispute the transaction

Your old ram no warranty?

I think have mine is Kingston but I don't know what's the procedure and I hate the waiting time, ain't sure got receipt or not too

But my comp can't even run when plug in the ram so I ain't sure how to do a men test , I quite sure it's the ram fault cause I I have 2x ram and I swap the ok ram into both slot in my mobo which works

ram and cpu are probably the 2 parts in a computer that has the lowest risk of having problems 2nd hand..

ram and cpu are probably the 2 parts in a computer that has the lowest risk of having problems 2nd hand..

Disagree. To me is could and air cooler. Ram can be eiffy due to ram slots which is a motherboard problem but you cant be sure until you test.

Are you sure is RAM fault and you had done some troubleshooting.

Use a eraser to polish the gold contact n clear the bits.

Place one RAM stick at a time and power on.
Do test on each slot.
Ensure it click in the slot nicely.

And not forget to see if the slot has anything stuck in it.
