Where to replace a cracked Microsoft Surface Pro 3 screen?

Hi

Recently, I dropped my MS SP3 and the screen cracked. Although it can still boot up and work but the touch effect is no longer working smoothly

Can someone recommends a good and reliable shop to replace the screen and roughly how much will it cost?

Most shops in Simlim will not touch surface devices as they are notoriously hard to dismantle - screen has to be removed and repair (torx screws of huge quantities and sizes).

Had issue with my Surface pro and I literally went from 1st to 6th to find a shop willing to do it.

Willing to do it is one thing. Cost is another. Surface Pro 3 screens are very expensive to replace. Going upwards of 300 to over 600 for just the part itself - oddly screens for pro 4 are cheaper.

What I would suggest is this:
Contact Microsoft Surface Support and do an online chat with them. Prepare your device model and serial no. Tell them about your issue and ask if they have out of warranty support / solutions. You will most definitely have to pay but you will get a discount on the repair / replacement unit.

Head down to SLS and enquire.

Yeah. Contact Microsoft - they do out of warranty replacements with a sum.
Unless of course your unit is a refurb unit like mine - purchased from the grey market.

Mine was not given that option for RMA / Out of warranty replacement because of that.

Just called MS and they said they'll not replace the cracked screen but instead will replace with another working MS SP3 refurbished unit.

Cost of replacement is S$845 and warranted for 90 days

Agreed. But if buy on the net, even here from users, it'll be tough to get replacement if there's anything wrong with the set. The onus is on you to find out if the set has problems.

Check with PC Dreams.
I change my screen with them @ $500++ last time.
Even upgraded the SSD to a 1TB with them.

Just contacted them through facebook messenger.
Was quoted $550 before GST for refurbished screen. Must mention is from HWZ. New screen is $750 before GST.

I believe they must have quoted me the price for a new screen.

Call them again and mentioned HWZ and they quoted me the refurbished screen at $550. Comes with 30 days warranty

BTW, refurbished screen ok meh? Sure can work properly?

So far so good for me. Been using for more than 6 months already. And can take the chance to upgrade the SSD.

If it cost around 1k plus, i think its time to change to some laptops which is more practical with the cost.
