As above.

I'm currently renting a game server from a local GSP. Recently I experienced mass player disconnects without the server crashing or admin initiated server reboot. After submitting support ticket to tech support, it is revealed that the server was under attack.

I want to report to the relevant authorities in order for the GSP to release the data. Where can I do so?

Call police or IDA?

unless you are able to trace the culprit with proofs and evidences else you would need DDos protection.

You can file a police report under the Computer Misuse and Cybersecurity Act.

http://statutes.agc.gov.sg/aol/search/display/view.w3p;page=0;query=DocId:8a3534de-991c-4e0e-88c5-4ffa712e72af%20%20Status:inforce%20Depth:0;rec=0#legis

Under Section 7 -

Unauthorised obstruction of use of computer
7.—(1) Any person who, knowingly and without authority or lawful excuse —
(a) interferes with, or interrupts or obstructs the lawful use of, a computer; or
(b) impedes or prevents access to, or impairs the usefulness or effectiveness of, any program or data stored in a computer,
shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $10,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 3 years or to both and, in the case of a second or subsequent conviction, to a fine not exceeding $20,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 5 years or to both.
(2) If any damage is caused as a result of an offence under this section, a person convicted of the offence shall be liable to a fine not exceeding $50,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 7 years or to both.

The Act has extra-territorial effect by virtue of Section 11 -

Territorial scope of offences under this Act
11.—(1) Subject to subsection (2), the provisions of this Act shall have effect, in relation to any person, whatever his nationality or citizenship, outside as well as within Singapore.
(2) Where an offence under this Act is committed by any person in any place outside Singapore, he may be dealt with as if the offence had been committed within Singapore.
(3) For the purposes of this section, this Act shall apply if, for the offence in question —
(a) the accused was in Singapore at the material time; or
(b) the computer, program or data was in Singapore at the material time.

why is the server even taking in the traffic :s22:

it's the server admin job to configure the server to redirect away such unwanted traffic

The service provider let ddos happen to the network? Wah happening ah...

I wun use that service provider again.

But to be honest there is really not much you can do. Even if you get the data and it's an organised overseas attack, as much as I would like to be proven wrong, nothing happens.

Unless you got prove that it's by a sg attacker than maybe got chance. But do check what's the policy first with the service provider about ddos and releasing data.
