Where to send Macbook for repairs

Hi all, I have a late 2011 model of 15" macbook pro and currently it is having problems accessing into the login screen, as it is stucks on this white screen. Tried a few commands, safe mode too but stuck in the same screen (white/ blue in safe mode) for quite some time...

But even so, can anyone recommend me which store is the best to go to and of reasonable prices? (No SLS stores if possible)

Have you tried running the Apple Hardware Test on your laptop? (holding the "D" key or Option + "D" keys together when your computer boots up)? https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201257

Else, you could bring it to A.LAB at Changi City Point or Plaza Singapura for them to diagnose the issue (for free) and then you can decide if you'd like them to bring it in for servicing as the issue sounds like a GPU issue (I couldn't log in nor boot to Boot Camp). If the issue is due to the GPU, the repair will be covered by the Apple MBP 2011 repair program and you won't have to pay a cent.

Hey luggagepls, don't think I have yet try out this command, can't remember though. Will test it again this evening.

As for the GPU issue that you have linked, I do not think my model is part of it... But anyway I will keep A.LAB in my list. Was wondering if you know the rates are reasonable etc?

If you're sure that it is a late 2011 MacBook Pro, then it definitely is part of repair extension. Nope, the rates a kinda steep but if they diagnose your MacBook to have the GPU issue, the repair will be paid for by Apple

Wasn't told of this last time I serviced this MBP of mine, since it is a hard disk issue or so I was told

Apple Hardware Test - "D" or "Option + D" not working either. Likewise the same when I tried to take out and reinsert my rams... Guess something somewhere is really faulty.

Anyway, I was told that it could be motherboard problem and it may costs me $200-$350... I am pretty noob in this but is this a reasonable price?

have u checked your HDD? symptoms could be caused by bad sectors also.

Well.. I do not have a spare HDD to try it out. Other than this fact and that I am unable to get the Apple Hardware Test working, I have no ideas how to proceed from there.

use a linux livecd, boot into linux n check yr HDD's smart attributes.

Hi is diagnosis really free? Cause I googled and people r saying Apple charge $85 diagnosis fee even before repair..

put your ear to the base of the mac in a quiet room, is there a hdd clicking sound? just to be sure it is not ur hdd.

afaik gfx failure does not occur so early during boot up, at least this was the case for mine.

I think I was just given the ultimatum....

First was told that it was graphic card... then was told it could be the motherboard... and now today I was told that hdd / trackpad etc are in addition to the first 2 problems...

try to get a mac os x USB installer disk or any bootable CD (even windows or linux also can) and boot from it..

also, have you tried resetting your PRAM and/or SMC? can google on how to do these...
