Where to tailor clothes =D

Anyone got any recommendation when it comes to tailoring clothes (both guy & gals)?

Today i just to MAsterTailor @ Golden LandMark.. The owner seem like pro leh... Ask him to help me tailor a black blazer (Italian cutting aka slim cut)... Charge me @$165 & could be ready by this friday

Seems not bad & the price is cheap & reasonable... My fren tailor shirts @ the shop b4.. workmanship not bad. Hence Friday i am going to judge it myself =D

Anyone got other place to recommend?? share share

Thanks for all the replies.

I can stretch to 1.2k so I'll give TAC and Private Affairs a call. From their Facebook pages though, the Private Affairs suit looks better to my eye.

PA suits are good. Was quoted $1200 for VBC Super 110 from them last year, full canvass.

Woohoo! In on 1st page of part 3!

Pasting what LHB posted on the dark side:

Prices indicated are for shirts as a guide. If in doubt, call the tailor to ask.

Cater at least 2 weeks of turnaround for shirts/pants and 6-8 weeks for suits.

For flak received for over-estimating the intelligence of some beings:
Suit - this refers to a a set of jacket and pants made in the same fabric.
Jacket - can refer to a standalone/odd jacket or jacket as part of a suit.
Pants - Well... Pants, duh.
2pc Suit - Jacket & pants
3pc Suit - Jacket, vest, pants.

If we're gonna tier them then isn't it weird that kayjen and TAC are on different tiers since they both started off approx the same time and for that matter some of them in the high-end tier are considered relatively new.

Just saying.

Does TAC do personal paper patterns?

Dont think age should be a determinant of skill level though. Like how G&G (shoes) are considered higher tier than many venerable old english makers.

Most important (to me) is the artistic eye of the tailor. Can you go there as a novice with no clue and get a spectacular garment?

Also the level of hand finishing options by Matt is also higher. Much higher than Dylan price vs price imo.

for eg (last time) Matt's 180 pants he will draft a bespoke paper pattern for you.

Dylan for his paper pattern only comes on pants $399 above and with a $400 one time charge

Feel free to discuss, nothing is wrong

Can't speak for TAC but from conversations with them, they do the drafting and cutting of the fabrics. Whether that implies that they have individual paper patterns is something I'm not sure of.

Can't always benchmark skills with age. The most important thing is that you like what that tailor does for you, regardless of what tier they belong to.

Categorizing them is just to help the newbies get a rough idea what range the tailors belong in.

I have the same concern about SOA being in the higher tier but I've not tried them so I can't comment much as yet. This being a list from LHB so I just copied and pasted and added in a few more that were being mentioned.

I had my last H&S suit made by Sam. I would go back to him once I have time and can decide on what i want to commission next.

Communication is key to a tailoring experience, and Sam is a nice person to speak/work with. *Plus this is a really cheap way to speak to a lawyer.

Be careful what you say.... he might decide to charge you consultation fees for browsing the swatches.... :s13:

Lol. Don't worry.
Lawyers don't charge folks for browsing their impressive law journals and binders.

It is only when their scissors are out that one should worry.

There's

Preset mtm block pattern manipulation

Drafting formula (freehand using Squares etc)

and yolo rock of the eye (pure freehand)

could be either.

Though a personal bespoke paper pattern would only consist of the last two.

However, generally when someone offers the service they would highlight it, as its a higher level of craft.

If manipulation of a block pattern to the point where it is the same as a pattern drafted freehand, would you consider it to be bespoke? Assuming that there will be a paper pattern for both methods.
