Ahboy82 - you can follow the length in the pictures Kiton just posted. Seems far too short to have the shirt ends just before you wear your watch.

hey kiton, the first pic really looks good. i am of small built too and i am abt to get started on the tailoring process. so just want to check abt the length of the shirts and pants as well. shd the sleeve length be just like wat aspenx mentioned, end at where the watch will be?

Just thought I should put a disclaimer.

I wear my watch all the way at the end of my wrist. And even so, this length is not good with suits. I wear it like this cos I like to show my watch. It can seem a bit short on my left arm when I bend up arms. I do _not_ wear these shorter sleeved shirts with a suit. Please follow Kiton's pics for an idea of classic men's wear proper fitting.

EDIT: Ok. Double-checked. My sleeve would cover slightly more than half my watch if I unbutton. Cos my watch is kinda big. I've been wearing it too often with my watch exposed that I had thought my sleeves actually ended before my watch.

I am looking to tailor a 2-pc (blazer and pants), wool or woolblend suit with thread count of 150 and above. After reading several pages here and from style forum, it would seem that Iris Tailor, Dylan and Sons, Kevin Seah and CYC have the most consistent performance.

Anyone has a final recommendation towards any particular tailor? I'm leaning towards Iris Tailor for their more affordable prices but longer wait.

I made 2 suits with Coloc at Raffles Hotel, Simon is the guy.

I'm not sure you will be able to find a woolblend with 150? I had 1 suit made with branded pure wool 140tc and a non-branded pure wool 150.

Non-branded 150 cost $1500. Branded 140 cost $2400.
unbranded 150 feels luxurious, smooth like a baby's butt.
Branded 140 feels even more luxurious, soft and smooth like 36DD natural boobies.

He had a guy in the back that was cutting/stitching, so i presume some/most/all the work is done in-house as opposed to sending it over yonder.

Dont say dont have nah!! the full suit

I actually prefer EggSh3ll's look than the other one with the drape in the jacket because the drape makes him look a bit... strangely chunky; and of course that makes him look bigger, but not in a good way imo. EggSh3ll looks pretty sleek in his suit in my opinion. I guess it's all up to how you want to portray yourself.

I like Eggshell's too. Pretty similar to my taste. But its only good for informal events. For formal or work business meetings its def recommended to go for a proper fit like the ones kiton posted.

Like i mentioned i am in the advertising industry and the people i work with are more open towards something more fashionable rather than smart. Actually i have always like the slim and sleek look thats why i requested for my suit to be cut slim fitting. Even my jeans are all skinny jeans. But i suppose different people have different likings.

Yes. No one better to illustrate a small sized man than him. :s13:

May i know where i can read up more of the journey of this gentleman?

I feel as though i am in similar shoes, and most tailors in singapore can't cut me a good suit, reasonably priced of course.

Im about 169, 34-35" in hollowed chest and skinny.

Can be read here,
Tweed in the City | Just another WordPress.com site

Do note though, he hasn't updated for a long time and his suits are... far from reasonable priced :s13:

But Singapore do have a handful of good tailors who are great at cutting a flattering suit.

Of course you need to set a reasonable budget of at least $1.5k.

so i was all ready to spend a small fortune at Dylan & Son this evening based on the good press i've been reading... i was going to go for their 5 piece, 10% off package.

to make a long story short, while the appointment started well enough (7 pm), somehow his assistant (dylan was not around at that time) ended up raising her voice at me, accusing me of wasting her time and generally making me feel very uncomfortable. =_="

i'm not sure what went wrong, apart from the fact that i was taking my time to choose the fabric (for 5 items!) and that it was past closing time. (this incident happened at about 8.40 pm.. and I did ask her if it was ok for me to continue)

i tried to explain that it was certainly not my intention to waste anybody's time as i invested my own time and brainpower in the selection process... and paying a premium too!

anyway, by this time, nobody was in the mood to do anything anymore, so i wished her a good night and left. to his credit, Dylan called later to "clarify". i said i did indeed still want to try his services and rescheduled the appointment.

hopefully everything goes well for the next session, although I do feel like looking elsewhere now.

to sum up -- just another in the long line of bad experiences from the service industry in this country. even paying more is no assurance of a pleasant experience!

That's the problem with the new gen, they are so impatient and expect instant gratification.

i'm curious. how did she put it across to you? she is usually the friendlier one i feel. instead, dylan is the dao one (except of course the very first time i visited him at his old shop when he was without any assistant).

dylan's workmanship is without a doubt fantastic. his measurements are okay, just above average. he however needs to work on his service. maybe i'm not his regular, but i just don't get the comfortable feel i experience with other tailors.

sir, can you elaborate? i am definitely not as experienced as you in perusing bespoke services. however, i don't think i had unrealistic expectations.

few weeks ago i tailor some shirts from dylan too, feel that the workmanship has drop, not sure if it's me. My measurements were measure by the assistant, not as good as what i expected.

No no, nothing about you.

Is just that most new generation tailors or those who employ youth to conduct selling usually are very impatient because they don't understand that it's a long term relationship :s13:

that's why i was very impressed with the guys at tgt. standards not on par with the top tailors yet but given their effort, they will be someday.

have to admit the assistant's measurements are totally amateur. but workmanship wise i think it's still pretty much the same.

that said, right now i only go to them for oxfords. they are the only ones that i know of who stock such a variety of oxfords. even a simple shape of white they have white, off white and cream. but i would be ditching them once tgt stocks up more fabrics.:s13:

That's why I have struck Dylan off my list.

The guy thinks like he is the only tailor in town and customers will automatically go to him after the first order.
