Hi guys, I'll be attending a wedding in June and I'm thinking of tailoring a jacket in either navy or grey. Will be pairing the jacket with a black casual tapered pants. Reason for tailoring just a jacket and not a full suit is because I don't see myself suiting up often. Any recommedations on the jacket? Have a budget of $700 but can go up to $1000.

Black pants just dont match... Your budget allows for suit.

Here's my brown linen jacket ready for fitting. No shoulder padding, half-lined and i personally requested it to be slightly shorter. :)

Excellent fit. Congratulations! It seems you have found your go-to place for future suits!

Out of curiosity, this is fitting session #?

Number 2 actually but I only had some tweaking at the sleeves and the choice of buttons at the first fitting. :)

Sounds like you have the good fortune of good proportions. If only my jacket making endeavors were as easy!

But to give credit where credit is due, it seems like Matt and Clinton (who did the measuring? Matt?) have done an excellent job here.

Yeah he (Matthew) definitely did a great job on the measurements but partly because I spent a good hour going through what's expected and how it should turn out. :)

And people, always wear your best fitting shirts when you're visiting a tailor, it really does make it easier. AND NEVER BE AFRAID TO VOICE OUT. :s12:

One (very) minor thing I noticed is that the roll of the lapel halts before the buttoning point. I thought it was unusual as I'm used to seeing these in the same spot. But it may just be my own personal thing.

Would it be weird if we tailor the blazer without the shoulder padding? Even though my tailor said he put in minimal padding but I still feel I look like a football player. Somehow I feel like the jacket makes m look blocky instead of sleek and slim. :s8:

Are u very well built or have high shoulders? Else padding should compliment the look. Non padded jackets will be more informal

Is this still the picture of inspiration?

Looking forward to finishing fitting pictures!

Rounded corners is uncoventional for db. But still looking very sharp for walking the dog.

Have a budget of $700 but can go up to $1000.

If get your own cloth budget around 200 and CMT for 800 should be able to keep within 1k for canvassed suit. Fused suit will be much cheaper.

Using the tailor inhouse cloth will overshoot to around 1.2 to 1.5k as the fabric cost will be higher.

Petia, the cut reminds me of something Will Boehlke would wear (the suitablewardrobe guy). It's a different aesthetic, but nice nonetheless.
