Which camcorder is good for continuous recording? more than 1hour recording.

that doesn't shut off after 30 minutes of recording becos of overheating. :(

Panasonic, Sony? Budget is less than 2k.

Those are usually the limits of DSLR video recordings

ALL dedicated video recorders can record until the memory card is used up.
Those with dual memory card slots can record to both cards spanning them or even to hdd / SSD if you are looking for ultra long length recording.

camcorder = any handycams to profesisonal video cameras. All dun have those limitations

Though going back to DSLR recording, the Panasonic GH4 was designed to do video primarily rather than still images

Thanks for your reply. Panasonic GH4 looks great but out of my budget. (cost 3k+)

I'm thinking of getting the 4k camcorder HC-WX970 - Panasonic becos of the weight 380g only. But when i tried to play a 4k video on youtube, it couldn't play.

Any good full HD camcorder for recommendation? Thanks in advance. :D

Firstly, what do you intend to shoot?

If its primarily personal work on a cheap but good budget, get any camcorder. Full HD should be cheap now. $300 & up.

If you intend to use it for commercial purposes (eg: weddings ), go for a semi pro. $1.5k upwards for used/new or if you dun mind the bulk ( which is actually great to tell your clients, you are serious, you can get " PRO-STYLE " ams such as

http://www.lazada.sg/panasonic-hc-mdh2-avchd-camcorder-pal-black-export-88123.html

Why PRO-STYLE?
Coz its actually a small camera inside a big box ( i love to tell people this :p )
Pros will shun it. but clients love it. :)

I'm using it just for personal work like, school events or street performances.

I prefer smaller camera becos i don't use tripod (too troublesome) but i have to hold the camera for more than 30 minutes. My current camera is the Panasonic FZ200 that has no problem recording long video but becos of the weight (500g). I wanted to get something lighter to carry. My TZ30 camera can record long hours video but record 720p only.

I'm thinking of getting Panasonic TZ70 for full HD video recording (1080p) but worried about overheating cos my TZ10 used to overheat.

A camera shop quoted me $1500 for the wx970 camcorder. But i'm not sure if camcorder will overheat or not so i created this thread for advise. :D

Recently found selfies stick is also very good use in camcorder recording for long period of time as you do not need to hold onto the camcorder tightly...just take out the camera cramp and screw your camcorder directly onto the selfies stick will do...act like a mono-pod.

Ok.

To answer your question on whether camcorder will overheat.
I've left my camcorder on for 18h straight, and it still responds fine ( i left it on the 2nd floor and was lazy to switch it off until the event day was over. It operates fine, and the live view from the camcorder was going strong. No artifacting...etc

30min limits are usually coz of the file format.
Eg: if the camera reads memory cards in the FAT32 system, that means, the maximum file size is 4gb, which is about 30mins worth of footage

The strength of a camcorder is that it was designed to be held for long periods of time.
A DSLR isn't. Ask any photographer how they feel holding their cam on high alert for long periods of time and the answer is usually not positive...

Camcorders have the ergonomics whereas Cameras rely on rigs to compensate for the lack of ergonomics.

If you intend to hold a camcorder for long periods, get a shoulder mount camcorder if a monopod / tripod is too troublesome. The shoulder acts as a good stabiliser.
