Which component is faulty??

built a haswell htpc with the following specs:

i3-4130T (brand new)
giga H87N-ITX Wifi (brand new)
gskill 2x2 gb ram (reused from old com)
intel ssd X-25M 40gb (reused from old com)
Lian-li q09b (brand new)

Here's the issue, installed win 7 hp 3 times; installation is fine but once it loads into windows, a plethora of pixelated colours show up, and it never recovers.
I've tried installing ubuntu, its very buggy and after a while.. the same pixelated screen shows up:

I've tested the ram with the windows recovery diagnostic tool, came out fine.
I suspect its either the processor or the mobo, but i have no idea which one though..
please advise...

If you have a GPU. Most likely GPU. But if not then most likely the igpu in the CPU itself have problems.

Might be the port ? Using which port ? Hdmi or dvi ? Try switch around see how..

tried both hdmi and dvi, same problems as well.

Ray: no gpu.. hoping to just use the hd4000 on the haswell chip..

Then most probably is the igpu itself got problem liao. Not sure where you get your CPU. But if it is new please go back to the shop 1 - 1 exchange.

sian..bought from amazon...dont think singapore sells the T variant...

i also realized when i clamp down the processor, it seem to have left marks on the side from the clamps - that's normal yeah?
I've always used amd and the mechanism of locking down the processor is different...

Then the best option is call Intel hotline and ask a dispatch from msia. Most likely they will send you a courier man to come down and take your chip. Call in and check first.

You re out of luck that the item come from amazon DOA.

Why not the motherboard, it could be the connector....

Hmm..bought from amazon...i feel for you. Warranty is headache. But you can still return to amazon within 30 days

Try resit the CPU. Make sure the arrow is pointing at the correct direction.

seems like there's only one way to put in the processor though..as in, it only fits in one orientation due to the groove...
anyways i try reinstalling windows for the fourth time..see how it goes.

No, but it seems like its my ram (even though i ran the windows memtest).
had a few memory management BSOD, so i decided to try using my other ram from my pc.
Now it seems stable - will run pcmark and 3dmark to see if the stability remains.

Also gonna test out the old ram on my pc and run a thorough memtest.

Memory causing display error is a reasonable explanation for embedded gpu because they uses part of the DRAM for graphic processing.

actually the problem isn't really solved
I ran memtest on the 'bad' ram and no errors came out at all.
plugged in to my other com also no problem, so probably ram compability issue.
probably intel IGP is picky with ram.

Now i have a dilemma of running my kingston 1600mhz 8gb on my htpc and my gskill 1333mhz 4gb on my gaming pc sigh.

So with the ram swap, you have no more graphic problem? Do a rma of the gskill ram then.meanwhile buy another 8gb for your gaming pc
