Which is better for gaming, AMD or intel

I am new to PC building, i wanted to build a good gaming PC within budget around $2000.
I researched about Intel for quite a lot, but recently i saw some people mentioning that AMD is more worth the money.

So which is better? AMD or Intel? I am going more for performance.

intel is still better for gaming if you have a relatively high end graphics card

Intel. AMD for ppl who want to do stuff other than gaming and CPU intensive (like video editing/rendering, 3D designing and streaming for example)

Even though AMD is also capable of gaming, for high hz/frame gaming (on 120hz or higher monitors) still favour Intel due to Intel's higher core clock. Amd is more suitable for productivity due to high core count for cheap (Ryzen 7 1700 have 8c16t and priced around consumer i7 (6c12t) pricing)

The recently released Intel coffee lake processor matches AMD in terms of cores/price but limited in board selection.

Coffee lake socket support is also shorter than Amd's am4. Not a major issue if you are not planning to upgrade processor mid life cycle.

So can anyone recommend me a pc build list for my gaming PC? My budget is around 2000

The purpose of this gaming PC is to be able to play high spec games on high fps in the next few years.

Here is what i think is ideal.
CPU: Intel i5 8600k
GPU: GTX 1070
250GB SSD, 1TB HDD
16GB DDR4 RAM
other parts should have quality but not so expensive.
(For CPU, GPU, if you have better options please say so)

If include all accessories i am able to afford $2300
