which lens to choose?

let's say if I want to pew pew landscape photo.. I want a ultra wide angle lens..
here got 2 option
1 is olympus 7-14mm f2.8 another one is 7.5mm f2.0

the advantage of the laowa is can put ND filter and is small and light and cheap
disadvantage is every on manual

for olympus is heavy and unable to put ND filter.. if want put will require adapter and it cost alot.. but the picture quality come out seen to be nicer and better than laowa

oh do take note.. laowa is not as wide as oylmpus


now headache don't know which to choose

Laowa is 3rd party lens maker, they don’t make their own cameras
Aso since u r shooting landscape, just focus infinity and shoot F8 and up. Auto doesn’t matter much.
Weight wise, u comparing a small zoom to a prime leh. The prime usually will be lighter la!

How come Olympus don’t have filter thread for attached ND filter?

the zuiko lens is curve head pop out really don have the filter thread..
but one advantage for the lens is.. it is weather proof then i cant find information of laowa lens issit weather proof or not.. you also know our tropical place will suddenly rain de..

For the laowa lens when you said every on manual, you are referring the framing of the photo need manually turn the lens barrel without any auto-focus linkage with the camera or on the camera the exposure all need manually set ?

most likely yes ba... i nv try the lens so i donno.. but i just bought 7-14.. since i using omd.. i think all use zuiko sua

For pure landscape work, auto focus is less important as you will probably be on tripod.

If budget is strict, I would find an ultrawide prime lens with manual AF instead.
Go for native lens for best compatiblity with editing software ( lens correction ).

Good choice to go with the 7-14mm lens, for manual lens unless you are already quite a good photography, the learning will waste you a lot of time.

I have a 8mm fish eye manual lens, after bring out one time using for a family trip , now the lens consider retired.

For landscapes, have you considered the Panasonic Leica 8-18mm f/2,8-4,0.
Can attach ND filter or Circular Polariser filter.

fisheyes are more for fun shots.
if you want to use your fisheye for wide angle shots, you should correct them in post otherwise they look too gopro-ish

Circular fisheyes are a waste of money unless u have a niche to warrant such regular use.

Diagonal fisheyes are like uncorrected wide angles, repetitive use the novelty wears off fast. De-fishing is/was finky. I used to have a Nikon 16mm FE, after less than 10 shots stuck in dry cabinet.

I would just put money on a good ultrawide.

It really depends what kind of photography are you moving towards.
If you really want to have better shots, got for lens with lower aperture
