Hi majolica,

Can we still have SPRING to subsidise part of the MBA fees if company is not willing to do so?

Hi Majolica,

If cost is not an issue, go for Insead or Chicago Business School.
It is well known in MBA field (Singapore) that 1st tier MBA school has the most diverse student profile.
Check out Insead or CBS

I don't know. The scholarship is a joint funding from SPRING and your company. Maybe you ask SPRING for more details.

I have checked them out . Unfortunately, for Insead & Chicago, my employer is unwilling to pay the 10% which is 2-3 times higher than Manchester and NTU. The difference in prices between Manchester and NTU is marginal ( around 1k plus) for the 10% my employer is required to fork out. That's y i am left with these two choices.Cost is not an issue only to a certain extent.:D

thanks for your advice. I will be under scholarship which SPRING will bear part of the cost and my employer will bear the remaining cost. Hence cost is not an issue. Both NTU and Manchester are the approved programmes, besides SMU, Unisim and NUS.

I did my research and both NTU and Manchester have better ranking than the others. SMU and Unisim relatively unknown overseas. NUS is not even ranked.

I am a finance manager with a local firm. The company intends to groom me to be the next successor take charge of their overseas expansion. Main concern is not just the knowledge but the networking opportunities the programme can bring .My long term vision is to expand my horizon and of course i really hope to use cutting edge knowledge learned from the programme to translate into profits for my company.

Dilemma arises cos my boss is rather myopic . As a typical chinese boss sadly speaking, he only knows nus and ntu and he feels a NTU MBA will give the firm more mileage since NTU is our national university. But I beg to differ as an overseas degree might be more useful for our overseas expansion.

I am fine with both curriculum as mba almost teach the same stuff. I am concerned about the opportunities it will bring for me and my company. Hence student profile is very important to me as being in a local firm for many years, I am restrictive in my thinking and I hope to overcome that in the mba course, through interacting with others.

Anyone doing manchester or ntu can advise?

I'm a manchester mba graduate. My classmates were mostly in their thirties to forties, managerial level. On a side note, MBS organize very interesting events which all students and graduates will be invited. I tries to attend the events if I am available to catch up with my classmates and to learn new stuff.

Hi, was at the preview for Lancaster MBA (run locally by LMC). This is for the 2nd intake in Singapore.

Was told by LMC that the 1st intake only 15 people. And they run the classes at a hotel to make it a central location as Bkt Merah is too inconvinient localtion.

Anyone knows any of these 15, and any feedback at all?

how much does Strathclyde MBA cost?

33K to be paid in 4 installments; deferment of any terms does not equate to deferment of fee payment. You may defer your studies but the fee payment goes on as per schedule and hence, will be fully paid by the 4th term.

just curious

hi all.
i enjoyed reading from all the comments posted here and i have questions as i am also thinking of taking up mba. Most of the posts here are about manchester and Strathclyde mba. how about mba offered by our very own local universities.

1)Are our local universities pretty hard to get in (gmat and essay) compared to manchester or Strathclyde thats why pple here go for the easier entries one like manchester, Strathclyde or other private unversities mba?

2)Or our very own local universities are in the lower tier compared to manchester and Strathclyde?

hope to hear some comments
thanks

no for both your questions... personally i found the local mba too academically rigid for my personally liking...

i'm doing mine at warwick by the way...

but to each his own... regionally the local mba has it's own brand name advantage

Executive MBA (Part-time)
awarded by University at Buffalo, The State University of New York

Hi, any one of you know about this programme or have taken the EMBA? This is in one of my shortlist because of its favourable location near to my parents' home. But seems like not much discussion on EMBA here. Would appreciate comments/opinions :)

I currently has a business degree from one of the local uni.

Abit about the programme:

Admission Criteria
Five to ten years' management or professional experience
A degree or an equivalent from a recognized institution
Good communication skills in written and spoken English.

Fees
S$54,570.00 (payable in four instalments)

Hi morning all. Wondering if anyone has any opinion abt this EMBA?

If given a choice, would you even consider this particular programme, conducted in SIM.

I guess points of considerations will include recognition by employers (current and potential), course mates, programme contents, programme delivery, lecturers, programme support, etc.
