Which MBA?

I read about the Strathclyde MBA when I google it on google.com.sg. It seems that the local vendor is YMCA. Is it correct?

As I will be traveling a lot, I am also looking for an MBA with more flexibility but so far I have read about Strathclyde MBA and Manchester being flexible. What about Uni of Adeliade at Ngee Ann Kongsi?

manchester main draw back is that there is too little contact time with lecturers... too much self study... that's the price for "flexibility"

adelaide main issue is that it is too short... it's like a mini mba compared to the other schools... look at the syllabus and compare it to nus... looks damm bad

I feel local university syllabus are too compact. just study study and study but they forget, work is application.

I graduated from local university and I don't feel I have a big head start over my overseas peers other than the piece of paper. Haha!

When you work in e industry, we need more specialization.

SMU started the price escalation by introducing their MBA at $50,000 a few years ago, now NUS and NTU have follow suit by raising their program fees from <$30k to >$50k.

I can imagine the pay-back period for a mid-career professional, let alone young MBA aspirants.

But local MBAs do have their value in the domestic market, especially GLCs?

Have a look at some of the overseas MBAs have several from well recognised UK universities that have very high rankings - check the FT MBA Rankings.

Likes of Manchester, Strathclyde or look at Lancaster (top 10 UK University)

Nope. Insufficient experience.

For MBA, I still feel it is good if you have some experience in management level before u attempt it. Anyone can take if you have $ but if you were to ask me in real life, companies won't hire you to be a manager or director just because you have an MBA and no experience. I have friends who have MBA and are still entry level workers because a lot of bosses still believe they don't have the necessary experience to lead. Of course, I don't deny there are some stupid idiots without both brains and MBA sitting at the top of the organization.

I always feel MBA wont necessary make us successful but it teaches us systematically what is the ideal way and approach to do things. It is up to individual to perform and apply using these skill set in their organization.

i sent them a email for enquiry last week ... still havent gotten back to me yet...

considering between rutgers and buffalo....

any thoughts?

company paying ... money should not be an issue... but i think insead and cgsb probably out

Well you craft your resume to suit the outcome, after all resume is a marketing tool to sell yourself isn't it.

I think you filter off those unnecessary stuff eg. salary) but afterall applying to MBA is like a first cut to a job. If an MBA dun accept u, employers may not accept u too.
