Hi, are there any IT professional here taking MBA?

I've been offered to read Master of Computing with NUS.
The problem is I'm not sure whether I should go ahead or not.

Personally I held a computer engineering degree from NTU. It's been 6 years since I've graduated from NTU. Currently working in IT as a manager in the banking industry. Pursuing Master of computing will have no impact to my salary or promotion at all.

The reason why I signed up was because there are few modules that I've interest in learning.

I'm aiming towards moving up to senior management role in future. I wonder will master of computing or MBA or master in IT leadership should be useful for me compared to a technical master.

Any IT professional can share your experiences after obtaining MBA?

I was in the same situation before as you with a comp Eng degree from NTU and 5+ yr exp.

I ended up taking an MBA because I feel that I want more exposure to other areas besides engr. I learn new things and also met many new people outside of my industry.

But ultimately, it really depends on what are you aiming for in your career, a technical specialist or management position.

As for ROI, having an MBA also doesn't automatically mean a jump in salary. But I feel that it can open doors and lead to something greater. It really depends on how we make the most of the given opportunity.

If you can, go for brand name MBAs. Although they are very ex, people who hold a brand name MBA less likely to to lose their jobs when the market is down.

A bit biased but this is Harvard Business School's research.

Aiyah I cannot post link, but you can search for "return on mba hbr.

Thanks for sharing, saw CEIBS in the list as well, it seems to the highest ranking among others on that day, not sure how true is the CEIBS ranking though.

As a matter of curiosity, is the CEIBS MBA conducted in Singapore or do you have to go to China or Hongkong?

I asked their director, he says mba only in Shanghai with full time, we can't attend in other cities, and part time only for emba.
Full time is a pain, guess few people can afford that...

Hi Guys, need some help on the MBA's offered in part-time in Singapore.
Had attended the MBA fair in MBS last weekend. Strathclyde/Ngee-Ann-Adelaide MBA's looks pretty good. Strathclyde MBA, for few modules they are taught by local prof's however for Ngee-Ann-Adelaide all classes are taken by prof from Uni of Adelaide.

Any one studying in Strathclyde/Ngee-Ann-Adelaide please share your MBA experience. Anyone attended the MBA fair do share your views.

Is there any other part time MBA worth a shot in Singapore considering a budget of under $40K ??

Full time is a pain in the wallet but one can focus on edu
Part time need to juggle work with edu. Unless u easy work day in day out no stress great, otherwise more painful

Cheap and good MBA does not exist.
Why do a MBA when the ROI is weak.

This at £25-30k maybe the cheapest out there

Ngee Ann-Adelaide has the support of Ngee Ann Kongsi which is non-profit/philanthropic and is able to keep the course fee affordably.

Better to hear it from the expereince of the alumni who went through the MBA journey:

I'd personally suggest Ngee Ann-Adelaide as you are investing in a reputable university that many of our government appointment holders are existing alumni of. Yes, indeed the lectures are flown down from on campus and you are paying for it at very reasonable price.

Heard very positive feedback from the current students there too who shared their experiences with me about the course work when I spoke to them during a self study session. Been planning to take up their MBA programme there as well given that I completed my undergraduate course there 3 years back.

NAA MBA has got single accreditation where as Strathclyde got triple accreditation and also top ranking in FT this year. I am also impressed with the feedback about NAA but would appreciate if any one from Strathclyde could share their views as well.
