Zoom is overrated. Buy a phone with largest sensor size

Especially zoom.

Look for something with optical zoom e.g periscopic designs instead of cropping type digital zoom.

Also if optical zoom ratio gets too high, the sensor becomes abit too small.

Unfortunately periscopic designs are usually reserved for flagships.

Alternatively look for a previous generation flagship.

A 1 inch sensor will never be able to fit a periscopic design because of phone "thin" constrains, they are usually slapped with a wider single focal length.
