It's time to upgrade up rig and currently I have narrowed down to these 2 mobo.

MSI Z170 XPOWER Titanium or ASUS Z170 ROG Maximus VIII Hero.

Which mobo you guy prefer?

Anyone here use Corsair H80i GT before? How is this water cooler?

With the money spent, can get a decent x99 mobo liao....

X99 Liao.....

One of the reasons is the performance vs price.

I do agree the the extra cores and the rams slot may come in handy in near future but currently I will be using to play games only.

Only once in a blue moon, will use to edit photo.

who don't prefer a x99? But I need to top up near to $500 (i5-6600k vs i7-5820k).

I feel it serves more purposes to spend that $$$ on a M.2 or invest on more rams.

oh, I have never used gigabyte before. In the past used to use Asus, but later switched to MSI due to Asus mobo is too expensive.
U pairing the boards with i5 or i7 chip? If i7, getting an i7-5820k + MSI X99A-SLI PLUS would be cheaper.

If you are worried about cost performance. I dont think either of the boards you looking at worth considering either.

Its far too expensive and not worth pairing it with an i5*. I rather, you drop to a notch lower to get it with the unlocked i5. There is no reason for you to get a top end mobo from skylake and get an i5 inside.

planning to pair with i5.
The Asus Z170-A ($635), MSI Z170 Tomahawk ($589) or MSI Z170 Gaming Pro ($631) when paired with i5-6600k should be able to satisfy your requirements. Anything more when paired with i5-6600k I consider as luxury coz really, you don't need those extra features for gaming.

Prices quoted from PCThemes pricelist.
