Which ONT allows setting of DNS?

I want to do adblocking at the router level. My Huawei ONT is in router mode and Deco M9 in bridge mode, and the ONT doesn't allow me to modify DNS settings.

1. Are different ONTs interchangeable? I have a spare hg8140h5 huawei from another telco. Doesn't seem to work.
2. How to set it up so I can do adblocking at router level?

What ISP are you using? ONT in router mode and deco in bridge mode doesn't make sense. If it is an ONT the routing should be done by the deco. Change the settings there.

yes. I'm on singtel ONR. Deco in AP/bridge mode.

OK, so you have an ONR. And evidently you cannot change the ONR's own DNS server address(es). Alternatively, are there any options in the ONR's LAN-side DHCP server settings that would allow you to modify DHCP option 6 (the DNS server addresses returned to DHCP clients)?

there are a few possible solutions.

1. bridge ONR and change your deco to a proper wifi router so you can change dhcp settings including dns. i think huawei is an older model - guessing you're not on 5gbps plans and above so this may or may not be feasible. would recommend upgrading your plan so you get the nokia/zte ONRs which have bridging methods published. if not can consider switching ISPs to one that use ONT

2. double NAT and use a wifi router in router mode behind the ONR. you can change dns settings on the router.

3. see if can change settings on the ONR itself. it may be that you're not logging into it with the proper admin/support account to change settings. if you post some screenshots maybe can advise further
