Which phone should I get?

Hi guys,

Could you recommend a good phone that I can get for my dad? These are his requirements:

- Note taking functionality (with stylus)
- Good camera/video quality - he uses them to record videos for his stock classes
- Big memory space (preferably with the option to insert external memory ie. SD card)
- Must be user-friendly and reliable

The only one that comes to mind is the Samsung Note 5 (but seems like it does not support external memory). Please recommend any that meets these requirements above. Thanks!

Note 4, with a Snapdragon 805.
It's 32 bit SOC though - but it shouldn't make much of a difference.

Note 5. Camera needless to say, it's one of the bet camera phones this year. Need not worry about Notes taking as there is a S-Pen,

As for memory, they offer 32GB and 54GB variant. For expandable memory, you can purchase a USB Dual-drive to plug into your phone when necessary.
I have a 64GB USB dual drive from Sandisk, whenever i need transfer files and view files or videos, i can plug it in and view directly.

anyway, Note 5 is using the fastest memory processing. Most phones with expandable memory with SD cards often suffers some lags due to the processing time for SD card.

Thanks all! Seems like I'm currently leaning towards Note 5 then. But before that, any personal experience regarding the performance etc between the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium vs Note 5? Though I know that Z5p does not have a stylus but supports expandable memory.

Z5 premium is good for its battery life and water resistance. It's the first phone with 4k screen, which i think will drain battery.

Camera wise, its quite good, but heard feedback from retailers, they feedback that Note 5 is still better due to the OIS, image stabilizer.

No worries, benefit of doubt given for this case.

With regards to getting a note 5 at the price given, I did a quick check on a few local mobileshops who list their prices on their e-sites and I don't think you can get one at your price range stated. The range is still around the low to mid 800s and up

Thanks man for the reply. I did check on those online shops for prices as well and got the same info. Was hoping if the experts here got any better lobang haha.. Budget quite tight so trying to save some bucks maybe i should consider other alternatives... Thx anyway!

Hmm. From your siggy, I suppose you are already using the G4 which is an awesome phone by itself. Nothing much to above the G4 with the exception of its similar tier phones like the one plus two, galaxy s6 and the note 5. Hmm. You can consider a new or good condition used Galaxy S6 - essentially similar to the Note 5 (same soc, build) except that it had 1gb less of ram, smaller and no spen.

Performance wise, the S6 with its octa core exynos is a pocket rocket (one of the best of 2015) - no lags even on power savers and surprisingly no infamous touchwiz lags.

However I would advise you to just hold on a tiny bit. Ces 2016 is on going right now and alot of 2016 flagships are being announced.

Prices of 2015 flagships will drop when 2016 ones are released .. saving you more money also giving you more time to save up

So looks like note series is the only option. Note 6 i think have to wait till aug-sep for Samsung to launch. Only by then note 5 price will go down. Haiz maybe I'll just bite the bullet and serve up the phone. A bit investment goes a long way i guess lol.

Very few phones have styluses though..
But for big screens there are plenty.. how about V10? :O
