Which sim only good for travel ?

would like to have yr advise.

mw on MyRepublic now, going to Taiwan soon for few weeks.

need data, and some call back to SG land line.

Any recommendations if MyRepublic is good enough if you have used this at Taiwan.

or ChangiMobile flexi plan $18 per month but include 3gb roam data in Taiwan.

simba is your best choice. Free calls back to Singapore, yes, i mean Free Voice Calls (Not WhatsApp). Free 1GB roaming data inclusive in your plan. If you need extra data in Taiwan, it will cost only $4/GB.

Btw, i'm also heading there next month and will be using simba.

For calls, continue using MyRepulic Voice app, make sure you turn on before leaving Singapore, otherwise will not work. Call time charges are minimal.

Buy a local SIM card at the airport for your daily data use in Taiwan.

The plans come with unlimited data and count in days, price is not too expensive too.

MR roaming is expensive, go for cheaper options.
SIMBA is decent enough for usage.

There are quite a few different M1 prepaid cards, one of them is the Tourist Card, which I was using in the beginning, see link below. This card is sold in selected 7-11 Stores (convenient store next to M1 Shop Peranakan Place) and can register online using the "M1 Prepaid App". This card main account has no balance upon activation.

But I found another M1 prepaid card in an Ah Beng cornershop which gives the same amount of roaming data BUT still having $14 in the main balance!! So it is up to one to find the most suitable M1 prepaid card. Note this card has to do registration on site, so need to bring physical NRIC.

M1 prepaid card has indeed confusing offerings.....

It really depends on the type of call you plan to make. If you're planning to make WhatsApp calls, it's usually more cost-effective to get a Taiwan SIM card upon arrival, as it tends to be cheaper. If your device supports eSIM, you can also consider getting one online.

For OTP (One-Time Passwords), you should check with your telecom provider, as some of them allow OTP without roaming. For example, Giga, a few months back, allowed me to connect while overseas without any roaming plan add-on just to get OTP.

If you need to make SG landline calls to during overseas, a common suggestion is to use services like Simba and the MR Phone app (https://myrepublic.net/sg/mobile/roaming/talk/).
