Which sound card to get?

Hi guys, me again.

My friends birthday is coming up real soon and he sort of wants a sound card.

The problem is I have no idea which sound card to get him.

After looking around the pricelists I'm currently looking at 2

the Asus Xonar D2X

and

the Creative Blaster zx

but I cannot decide which is better?

Would appreciate some advice or any other suggestions.

Budget is around 250+-

Before I add anything, for Creative one, its either ZxR or Z, dont go for the Zx



In case u didnt know, STX is going lower than D2X and yet it actually better, as in consider slightly higher tier. Not to mentioned STX got a built in amp.


With ur budget of 250, the best one would be ZxR especially if ur friend is into gaming.


Now to the common topic, wats speaker, headphone ur friends uses?

He told me he has a pretty good AT headset not sure specifically which one though.

Xonar Essence STX, the original one going at low 200 now.
