White discoloration on iPhone screen

It's the same thing as reported here... Just noticed this on my iPhone 5 (2yrs old)... Anyone with the same issue? Worth it to get screen changed?

yes happened to my iphone 5. only realised it when i am trying to sell off the phone to handphone shop.. the person pointed out the issue to me, and can only be obvious in white background colour. He explained that it is the battery bloat that is causing the battery to pressed on the LCD thus causing the discoloration.

Icic... Hmmm maybe I should change the battery instead... Better this way...

Apple has just ordered QCD just now to replace my iPhone 5 having that same issue of rectangular pink hue on the middle of the screen. QCD said it is normal for iPhone 5 - I did not accept. Called Apple, they put in a case number and inform QCD (issued a CS code too) to replace my unit. Apple said it is a deffect.

I have AppleCare though.

Good for you! I have never accept all these third parties repair centres' word as the final say like you.

Nothing to do with the battery, it's a LCD fault. Probably something to do with the oca glue used to stick the touch panel to the lcd panel discolouring.

Anyway it's quite a common problem on older iphone 5(s). I replaced the lcd on my 5 myself, $35 from ebay.

Yeah, only Apple can confirm. They even went to the extent of showing me some of their handsets having the same issue. I just said maybe you don't have warranty anymore that is why you cannot complain to Apple. Lolz

Your AppleCare still inforce? Mine past 2yrs mark liao and I didn't buy AppleCare so technically it's out of warranty for more than a year...

There's no way you can get genuine other than from buying it from Apple or salvaging from another iphone. Don't ever believe what those ah beng shops tell you.

Your AppleCare still inforce? Mine past 2yrs mark liao and I didn't buy AppleCare so technically it's out of warranty for more than a year...

Expired last Sunday, but luckily brought in the phone last Saturday. Another extra 90 days from yesterday due to the replacement.
