Intending to signup for the whizcomms internet and use it with an TX-AX6000, wondering if they will be able to setup the ONR in bridged mode as an ONT?

Not officially by WC.

New users may get ZTE ZXHN F620 ONR and there is no public known method to bridge the ONR.

Some users report that they use bridged Huawei HG8244H ONR and the bridging remains when they upgrade from 1Gbps plan to 2.5Gbps plan.

All in all, YMMV. If you want to use ONT, then probably it is better you may want to skip WC now.

Does that mean if i can buy one of the huawei ONRs on carousell, I can request for that to be setup in bridged mode?

I see, just concerned that all my IoTs will no longer work and 1gbps for a 2.5gbps plan doesnt make much sense too.

has anyone tried not using the provided huawei ONRs, and using some other custom hardware ONT (such as those from taobao)?

I imagine all we have to do is make sure the config is set correctly (authentication credentials etc). Anyone tried before?

Carousell sellers flip items for quick cash. They don't have the IT skill to change configuration.

Finally managed to get my WC 2.5Gbps installation done today.

Can confirm that dual wan is working with the ZTE ZXHN F620 ONR. I managed to get similar results as someone who previously posted his dual wan speedtest ~1500mpbs down, ~980mbps up.

I was given the support login for the ZTE ZXHN F620 ONR and with my limited networking and outdated tech knowledge, I believe there is a way to configure bridge mode. Although, I haven't gotten down to doing it yet.

I was also told that it might be possible to get a replacement ONT. Just need to call in to whitelist the MAC. *disclaimer: this has not been verified yet.

Just wondering if you can post the screenshots of the ZTE ZXHN F620 ONR Web UI pages potentially related to bridging. Thanks.

When you say support login, does it mean the so-called super admin password? They may have three different level of passwords which can carry out different level of tasks.

As for replacement of the ONR with an ONU or GPON stick, that is possible but then it may require some assitances from the real experts in this area. I myself do not know how to do that.

Those Huawei ONR is as good as a brick and not worth the money, as the seller does not know how to bridge the ONR.

Anway, even if they are bridged, you can not use it with your WC 2.5G internet. Each ONR (or ONT for other ISPs) needs to be activated by the ISP, or configured properly for your needs which requires some technical knowhow.

That is possible but you may need some assitances from the people who have the know-hows to do that.

One possibility is that you can contact the Taobao seller and tell them about your situation (including your ONR model numer), they may be able to configure that for you through remote assitance. YMMV.

Reference: some users in this forum have done similar thing.

Here's 1 after logging in using support account. Haven't have the time to explore further, not sure which other pages are related to bridging:

I see. I think it is probably better not to take the risk here.

But based on this configuration, it seems to me your Whizcomms 2.5Gbps plan will become 1Gbps plan once you bridge the ZTE ONR (configure as an ONT).

There is a report in the Singtel thread that one Singtel 1Gbps user got this ZTE ZXHN F620 ONR as his ONT replacement, which means that the ZTE ZXHN ONR is configured as ONT for him.

What happens if we choose "Hybrid"?

Ah, good point. This may be the way to go if need to get full 2.5Gbps bandwidth -- one ONR LAN port bridged and the other three ONR LAN ports not bridged (similar to Singtel 1+1 Gamer bundle)

But again there is always a risk if one goes ahead with the changes. Not so sure if @theoryjack wants to take the risks or not.

Will try after a config backup is done. Just need to find the time. What's the worst that can happen?
