As for me I didn't use it.

use it for:
multitasking (too bad feature being removed from iOS 11)
previewing links/images
saving/copying images
folders with apps that have notification badge
action on reminder/to-do notifications

Force Touch or 3D Touch should still be in for the next iPhone. There was rumors pointing out that because of that feature, Samsung upped the price of the OLED display. Which led to the higher price point.

Not sure if it’s accurate from early this year that during the early stages, they had to choose between embedding fingerprint authentication in the screens or 3D Touch. They finally chose the latter.

Force Touch will be in the next iPhone. The reason Samsung charges Apple a premium over OLED is due to the fact that Apple wanted the touch panel and display to be a separated instead of integrated which push the price even higher.

I don't think they have to do anything?
Apple Pay and Banking Apps that use Touch ID essentially use a 'LocalAuthentication' API that uses biometrics(software tells app true or false)

Don't think apps can talk to Touch ID directly and will need to reprogram for Face ID

3D touch is my favourite function. Android Subreddit can even argue over that saying it's stupid. Pressing and hold will do.
