Thumbs up to both posts. Both really helped me alot and i really love the horse galloping around you clip. Was really quite blown away by it and that will be my go-to clip to showcase the sxfi surround sound.

Happy to hear that. There are lots and lots of surround music out there.
Search for DTS music if you love them.

Only had time to check the 1st track. Lol, my indian colleague she loved it playing off the sxfi.

Yes, the drum beat starting from 0:0:20 and every 8-beat is lower and distinct. The bass strings coming in at 0:0:40 was also nice, can feel the deep vibes.

Didn't have time to listen it through. Is that what you are watching out for?

MXplayer with the additional custom codecs can play AC3 and DTS. However, android does not output more than 2 channels via USB audio. :(

Android 24bit audio player

Found this player that uses it's own USB audio driver...not bad, no more "click & static" from the SXFI amp :D

👍. So even after choosing the correct 🎧 profile, some songs are still a hit and miss. And if your buds/🎧 aren't on the list. It's getting to be a long list. Hopefully Creative will provide Some general profiles and sliders to adjust settings as many here have suggested. Can do a favor. Test some prog rock songs. 🍻

does anyone knows where to get F1 or racing 5.1 / 7.1 audio/video recordings? I think SXFI will work well. I think youtube one is only 2.1.

Hi LiLasN, when you mean this

"The same concept of Value applies for the Amp itself.
You can either buy a $109 Amp (Sound Blaster Omni) that confirms can give you a 5.1 surround on even the Switch, PS4, Xbox One, TV, Android media device, Apple TV, PC and as long as the media device has an optical port or USB port, and still get 5.1 surround over headphones as well as output to a Speaker setup via optical port.
Has 2 microphones too.
Sound wise, the same 24bit 48000Hz."

will it create the same or similar out of head experience of the SXFI? Thanks?

Ok so I collected the Super X-Fi amp this afternoon. Here's my feedback :

Background : I listen to some lossless music on my laptop via a dedicated USB DAC and a very old pair of Blue Sky studio monitors. However I spend most of my listening on K-pop music videos and movies. Before this, I either listened on my phone using the stock samsung earbuds that came with my Note 5 or listened to my laptop using the connected USB DAC and to my studio monitors.

So I don't claim to be any audio expert or audiophile but I at least appreciate minimum standard of music.

After the Creative demo and going home, I listened to about 10 Youtube Kpop music videos in a row non-stop on my Galaxy Note 5 via the SXFi amp and the free Aurvana headphones. At first I was prepared to be disappointed after reading quite a few bad reviews on this thread.

Then it hit me : the SXFi has been wrongly marketed. It's not some super accurate audiophile device for high end listeners. It's not even the surround effect and the accuracy of the placing the origin of the sound in virtual space.

What it does is it "removes the Headphones virtually" so that the listener feels like he's listening to the singer/music video/movie directly. Music listening via headphone feels far less fatiguing and far less tiring and much more "natural".

Last time, if I listened to MVs using my earbuds on my Note 5 , after a while, my ears would ache and I would feel a bit tired and headache. With SXFi enabled, I felt much less stressed even after listening to 10 Youtube music videos in a row for about an hour.

One hint I would give to people who want to better appreciate the SXfi is to turn the volume down. If the volume is too loud, the loudness overwhelms the virtual natural surround effect of the SXFi and all you hear is LOUD music/sounds.

So after 18 hours of ownership, my first gut reaction is that I'm pleased with the purchase--it's made my listening on my Android phone far less headache and stressful. I'm probably keeping it.

My final word is : it's not for Audiophiles and or for bragging rights for super high fidelity sound reproduction or even super accurate game playing. It's an item meant for the layman and for the mass market to make music/movie and game playing more enjoyable and less fatiguing. The moment you analyze the music with expert ears is when the product starts to fall apart. So set your expectations.

Now I wonder if the EMU Teak headphones are worth buying since the Aurvana/SXFi combo is so pleasing to my ears. Would the Teak take it to a higher level or is it too audiophile for the SXFi? The Aurvana mght be "good enough" for the level that the SXFi is pitched at.

If you get the e-mu then you are stepping into the realm of audiophile.

Not that it's bad as it's value for money but who knows it might change your impression on music listening.

I would say go get. It's better then fostex th-x00 which even Linustechtips applaud how good th-x00 is so just imagine how good E-MU Teak is.

TH-X00 is selling at massdrop for 420 usd without calculating the tax shipping etc and what's more the cable can't be detached unlike the E-MU Teak.

There are people selling in Carousell for 699 for the whole bundle.

Go low ball that bugger at 500 or 550.
Then sell away the amp separately for 150.

Then it's only 400 sgd.

Well, the thing to be aware of is that, if you're using the optical port, then you're limited to 2-channel lossless or 5.1 compressed (Dolby Digital, EX, DTS etc).

So, if you want to play surround lossless, then there is a slight compromise. Still can, but not the best. For stereo, it's fine.

Awesome, great to know another who is enjoying it. As for the SXFI and audiophiles, it's not so much the SXFI that's limiting (I feel). Instead, it's the headphones. On the Aurvana SE, it's okay, although it's quite comfortable and you can wear it for hours without fatigue.

Upgrade the headphones though, and the quality of sound changes as you experience different impedance, driver sizes, wider frequency ranges etc.
And of course, the quality of the audio-track plays probably the biggest part. Lossless flac or wav or alac is top-grade but 320k mp3 is almost as good.

Enjoy your new audio experience journey! :s12:

I would hazard it might be partly to do with the way the track recording was done because it's not always. E.g. saxophone didn't work in the Maravel track but did in some other. Violin didn't work in Vanessa Mae but the cello worked great in Tina Guo's Wonder Woman Youtube.

Progressive rock huh?
Kansas - Dust in the Wind (flac)
Guitars were clear. Violins though, like my Vanessa Mae track, lost a bit of the sound of the string. Vocals were clear and crisp.
Feels almost like listening to an unplugged performance with them in front of me.

Queensryche - Silent Lucidity (320k mp3)
Beautiful. 1 word. Lol. Vocals were smooth and enchanting. Instruments were clear. Backup chorus coming on at 02:17 was beautiful. Guitars were rendered nicely.

Electric Light Orchestra - Hold On Tightly (320k mp3)
The way it's recorded (with slight emphasis on reverb and echo) makes it sound overly "airy" on the SXFI. Sound of drums on original is deliberately muffled so when I play it over the SXFI, it's accentuated a bit more. This "airy" effect also kindda hid the piano accompaniment unfortunately.

Don't have many of these tracks in my library, sadly.. lol.
